Hey warriers!

I need some advice as I always thought that researching keywords and optimizing them was one of the best ways for SEO. But while searching the net today, I found a google webmaster resource where google explain that they no longer use keywords to rank sites on the web.

Here's the link of Google admiting this:
Sadly Warrior Forums won't let me post the link, but if you want to see it just search on Google "do keywords matter google" - it's a blogspot site.

I need some advice here guys!
Do keywords make a difference? and google are just saying this for some strange reason ?
#keywords #matter #seo

The internet is becoming more competitive, more fierce, more creative, and moving extremely fast. The days of tweaking a title tag and gaining a bunch of non-relevant backlinks are over. Good SEO is now similar to good offline networking. Being socially active, building relationships, and networking online is what SEO is becoming. There is now a true synergy and connection between SEO and Social Media.

Using keywords in your meta description is not really counted anymore, using it in your content is a different ball game, it pays to include your main keyword and related ones in any content you have on your website.

I think what you meant to say is that using a keyword meta tag is not considered by Google. Using keywords in the description meta tag is still recommended.

That is not primarily for SEO but because if the description meta tag doesn't contain the keywords, Google will probably choose a snippet for the search results that does contain the search term. Generally speaking, you want a snippet that entices the user to click on your link once it gets included in the search results. You do that with the description meta tag

It really does. If your not using keywords how would people find your site? Just optimize and your ready to go. Also, make sure your posting rich contents on your site to make it more worth reading and so people will come back to you for more.

Your meta description may not be used in SERPS but it will be needed to entice a visitor to click to your site.

I think you read it wrong its says that Google not give wattage to meta keywords and meta description any more. Still title, H1, alt tags are most important tags in on page SEO and using keywords in these tags give good advantage in ranking keywords.

If Google doesn't use keywords to rank a site, I really can't think of what it can use.

As long as the logic that human beings are typing "keyword" to look for the relevant websites doesn't change, we shouldn't really worry "the Sky will fall".

I've read the article and they have not stated that they will not use keywords in ranking site.

They have just said that they will change the way they score search terms in ranking.
