My AdSense is on Someone Else's Site

I've been getting hits (no clicks) for the last week or two for a site that I don't own. It's not a lot of hits...maybe 1-2 every couple of days, but it's disturbing to me. Does anyone what I can do to make it stop? (It's the same site every single time.)

  • Aside from contacting the owner, I'm not sure what else you could do. (Contacting Google directly can be an adventure in itself.)

    I wonder how it happened, though. Was your site designed by someone who may have accidentally entered mixed your Adsense info with someone else's?

    I would look further into the matter to see what's going on.

    I don't know if there's a way you can disable an ad unit that I know of,
    but if contacting the site owner and asking him to take it off won't help,
    you can always make a ridiculous colour scheme for the ad that would catch the site owner's attention and make him want to take it down.

    Like a very bright pink background with bright red border, for example.

    Hopefully, there's a better way than this though. Interested to hear other people's thoughts.

    • The thing is, that won't work. The other person would need to copy
      your code exactly for that unique ad unit.

      What they are probably doing is just plugging in a publisher ID number
      for a generic ad.

      Which brings up something else. Because people still do the
      old fashioned adsense code, what happens if someone has a typo
      and accidentally types in your code? Play it safe. Designate
      websites. I would imagine a typo may be the reason in this case.

  • the fact this is a problem with no easy solution shows how much google sucks.My advice is try and contact them...at least they'll be a record of that if they ban you because of this guy.

    • Come on people. A simple scan of the stuff that
      google publishes to help adsense users is what
      the lot of you should be doing.

      Google makes a very simple fix. You can
      designate ONLY the domains that you want
      your adsense to show. Once you set this,
      then any other domain that tries to show
      your ads should show a blank box.

      Log in to your account
      On the left menu on top, you will see "account settings."
      Click on this to your settings page.
      Scroll almost all the way down and you will see:
      Access and authorization
      -Sites authorized to show ads
      (It probably says Allow any site to show ads for my account)
      Click edit. Click the box Only allow certain sites to show ads for my account.

  • if u already set the authorize to show for your website only, then other ppl still use it,
    google will not count the click ads from other website that using your ads.
