How to Use Social Bookmarking to Build Backlinks?

In the past I have used directories, forums, and blog commenting to start to build backlinks for my site. My next step is to incorporate social bookmarking. I have searched quite a bit online, but mostly get junk articles that repeat the same lame stuff (social bookmarking can really help your site, if you have a page that goes viral you will get a lot of traffic, do not use automatic submitters, etc.).

I only have one site and am a completely newbie to social bookmarking as I don't even use it personally. I want to research this topic first to make sure I start off the right way. My goal is not to spam, but to slowly, manually build up a good reputation and backlinks, especially dofollow. Can anyone give a detailed step by step guide to using social bookmarking sites? Which sites are good for building backlinks? Do I post an entire article from my site to the social bookmarking sites? Should I like/digg/stumble other websites in additional to my own? What kind of practices would get me banned? Thanks for all the help!

    Social bookmarks are good for getting faster indexing, There are various social bookmarks sites, I am sure you can find some good list on this forum too. Almost all SB sites need you to create accounts before bookmarking. It is simple, it is not hard as blog commenting and forums postings (in my view)
