    Yes you make money when people click on the adsense ads that are placed on your website. The ads are suppose to be similar to the content on your website and yes it can divert your customers from your products on your page.

    You would first need to apply for the adsense program and then once you are approved, place the code on your site.

    Adsense will go all the work for you based on the content of your website. There are some other back office features you could play around with BUT it's not mandatory.

    You just stick the code on your site and within an hour you should see some type of relevant ads.
