Adsense simply ads. It's not the only one out there but it's the most well known.

Basically, after they review your site and approve it, they'll allow you to use their ads to put on your site, like in the sidebar or top or bottom. You can find 'ad sense' ads almost everywhere, just go to a big site, like even a playstation or xbox site and when you see the ads on the side you'll notice right next to them will be 'google adsense' meaning, they're strictly ads.

Afterwards you can earn money, but you're not paid just to have them or how long you keep them on your site, you're paid by how much traffic you bring TOO them. The person visiting your site has to click on them, so you get paid per click the person who visits your site does. I mean that's why they're paying you for the clicks, to drive your traffic to them

And overall, the times I've ever clicked an 'adsense' ad, I've always found my way back to the site I was actually looking at, so you shouldn't worry about them 'stealing' your traffic.

Reply: Adsense works by placing simple scripts onto your site. When someone visits your site and finds the advertisements relevant to their needs, they may click on it. From here, you get a percentage payout from Adsense. However, you'll need to reach a certain minimal amount before you can actually receive cash payout from Google.
    • Will it give adverts that are similar to the products i sell and show them?
Reply: Generally yes. As such it may prove to be a direct competition to what your site is offering. However, there are ways to go about this.
    • Wheres best to have the adsense adverts, right or left to the page or at the bottom of my page?
Reply: There is no one model fits all. It depends on how your site is prepared or laid out. Usually, for conventional sites, the Adsense banners maybe placed near the top of your site, followed by short vertical banners on the left side of your site. At the bottom, you should also place a Adsense horizontal banner.
    • How does it work, wont the adverts steal customers from my site?
Reply: As mentioned above, there are ways to go around it.
    • How do you make a bit of money from the adverts? when people click the advert?
Reply: That is correct. And DON'T try clicking on your own website or you'll risk getting yourself banned from ever subscribing in the Adsense program.

thank you im a newbie to adsense.

There are 3 main components of Google Adsense advertising system :
    • 1) The Advertisers: those are the people that use Google Adwords platform to have their Ads on the Google Search, on the content pages of the other websites related to the niche of the advertisers.
    • 2) The Publishers: these are Website owners, Bloggers that participate in Google Adsense Google will place ads on their blog or sites once they are approved to the Adsense program.
    • 3) The Website Visitors: these are information seekers, When a visitor visits a Google Adsense Publishers website, they see relavent Ads alongside the content. If the visitor clicks on any of these Ads, Google shares an undisclosed percentage of the cost of that click with the website owner.
You should aim to have a good quality content site that ranked high on the Search Engine. The more traffic you get from your site, you will have better chance to make more money with AdSense. Follow the AdSense guideline and most of all do not click on these Ads. Google will ban your account if they find out you click on these ads.
