The right domain name - Need help!

Hi Warriors,

I need some advice. I found a awesome keyword and I want to get that keyword in my new domain name.

But unfortunately, all kinds of domains are already taken. So all I could do is add some stupid letter to it, or a word. But I dont want to.

Now my question is, how importend is the order of the words?

i.e. if my keyword was: how can i rank for that, I logically would use howcanirankforthat.com or how-can-i-rank-for-that.com or net or org or whatever.

But what if I just change the order of the words like: canirankforthat.com or rankforthathowican.com

will it have the same relevance in googles eyes as the right order?

I hope you know what I mean. Please help me.

Thanks alot
#domain

    Consider this:

When you search for a kw, you're looking for the EXACT match to determine traffic. If you change the order, it's no longer an EXACT match.

Adding "hq" or "today" or "now" to the end of it, however, doesn't affect the keyword and can actually make the site seem more relevant to a casual user.

    Just my 1 1/2 cents.

Thanks for your answer. yes it´s true it might give the user a wrong impression.

You know when you search for something in google, google will bold your searched words in the search results, also in their domain names.

So do you think that the "wrong order" domain could rank just as good for the keyword as the "right order" domain.

      Still curious...

Theres no such thing as "domain relevance" in googles eyes but if you mix up the words, it will definitely confuse your visitors.

Ultimately you are doing all this to get visitors aint it? Just optimize for the "humans" and choose a domain that either makes sense, in which your ctr from search engines will be good or completely brand your domain.

      Thanks for your answer,

I know what you mean, but it´s a long tail keyword, and all the words written togehter are already confusing enough.

I just think if you rank nr. 1 in google have the homepage title and descripton for what the visitor is looking for, how much difference would it make?

Using your example (howcanirankforthat.com) I would advice you to grab something like:

    fastwebranks.com

    or

    rankithigher.com

    .

Forget keywords for a second and GET something powerful and meaning INSIDE that (keyword) imaginary.

Simple huh? And Google loves it.

And you can quote me on that one

Really good thought since my new website is also suppose to be an authority site.

But I need that traffic from google, and many of my competitor are ranking with the exact exact match domain. I believe I need that power that an exact macht domain gives. Otherwise it would take me forever to rank for that keyword.

it is better to use without "'-" if you are thinking about SEO.

if you reword your domain naime, google will rank you much better for that word, instead of word you wanna to rank!

I didn't think hyphens made any difference when it came to SEO, that it was more of a branding issue.

      Can someone clarify this?

Also, is it true that EMDs are less important/effective since the penguin update?

I have used Domain Samurai and that helped a lot. Keywords are the most important part in everything you post online, the order of words does matter though, Go to google keyword tool and type in your domain in the order you have it and see the results. Hope this helps.

suppose you are creating your site in wordpress, and your preferred domain name is abc.com, but this domain is already taken. So, you can take abcblog.com, you need to be tricky in this part. When someone search in google they will type "abc.com" (say), so your site name (abcblog.com) will be listed on the first page also as your domain has abc.com matched and most probably zero competitor for abcblog.com!
