The alternative ways - SEO

After doing a good portion of research on SEO it seems things are changing up a lot lately and google seems to punish people for creating unnatural backlinks.
BUT without building any back links it's sometimes hard to compete with others so it's almost a must!

Repeatedly I've seen people complain of losing their great rank in google and thus losing traffic.

Most of IM seem to rely on the search engines..

So speaking about avoiding SEO all together we have the following option:

1) Payed traffic

2) Solo Ads & list swops for list building

3) Signature, youtube video and the like

4) I'm sure a lot of alternative traffic sources are out there that I didn't mention

So my question is IF you choose to avoid SEO altogether and look at all the alternatives, what is the best route to go for List building & Affiliate sites?

  • I never thought of working without the SEO, however I've read about paid traffic & it works well for some & didn't worked for others. If I'd ever choose an alternative to that I'd go for video marketing i.e. YouTube. It's very very effective I've seen the results my self as one of colleague used YouTube to market his blog.

SEO will always be there, I think, though rules are always changing, but if ever I would do an alternative way to market my site I'd go with video marketing.

    Hey Zen,

you got to understand that google have always already been changing. The internet is a new frontier and it has been changing a lot as innovations are a breeding ground here!

Indeed these changes can scare some people away from SEO understandably but search engine traffic is still some of the cheapest and quality traffic (you basically got buyers knocking at your door with the right keywords)

The trick however is to stick with the white-hat tactics. google isn't penalizing backlinks they have recommended (from what I understand). They are taking down sites mostly that go after spam and stuff that creates an unfair advantage.

The key isn't to scam google but to see what they want and see how it can work to your benefit. This is what we have been trying to do even more so now.

What I'd really suggest is going with some actual promotion. Get good content on your site, and get your site promoted (don't just focus on backlinks; focus on actually promoting your site...how would you get people viewing your site)

From there if your content is good they will likely also share it. This way you naturally are building backlinks and morelikely than not...these backlinks stick and you can see results on the Search Engines as well.

This is what we have been finding in our own case studies and clients anyways.

In my opinion and from my experience I have found that SEO is dead. You have to build SEO naturally through providing excellent material and quality content, and there is no way around that. As Google gets better and better at filtering out crap content, it is going to be harder and harder to use unnatural methods to get ranked higher.

Just like any business, you are going to have to build links over time by having good content. And even if you were able to fake it, it wouldn't be worth it because once Google catches on, they could flag you for spam and penalize you to the point where there is no return.
