Help me Get from #6 to Top 3

This post is directed towards people who have actually taken their websites from the #5-10 spot on google to the top 3.

I currently rank #6 for the keyword "sdcc" on google and am seeking help on what I can do to *hopefully* rank in the top 3 for this keyword.

The site is PR3 with unique content. It has over 8K in backlinks. Has twitter, FB, etc. What am I missing? Can anyone provide me with some samples of what they did to jump in SERP?

any info and help is appreciated!

    When I reach this point I usually just focus only on high quality links (for example guest blog posts on good quality sites) and also building links to my backlinks. However, even for the second tier links I try to get quality links. I won't do comment/profile blasts. I prefer cleaner methods like article marketing (unspun) with unique content, guest blog posts (usually at lower quality blogs that it is easier to get published) etc

    If I wanted to try to climb a few spots, I'd add more web 2.0 pages with anchor and then maybe submit a few articles to the main directories backlinking the 2.0 pages. Then I'd social bookmark the 2.0 pages also. Then I might take any RSS feeds from the 2.0 pages and submit those to the RSS directories.

    PR3 and 8k backlinks, means that the quality of your backlinks isn't the best.

    Focus on contextual high PR related backlinks, then you will get there

    If you think that you have done a lot then try to buy some very closely related high PR site links. i think its the most expensive and highly effective way to increase the position like yours.
