Difference between an LSI and a SEO article?

I see writers for hire offering different kinds of articles for different needs. While I do have a basic understanding of LSI and a fair amount of knowledge on SEO, I don't understand when one would use one type of article over the other?

Anyone kind enough to explain it to me?

  • It's not an either/or question. LSI is part of SEO.

BTW, this question should have been posted in Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum

    • This...

It's not about one versus the other.

LSI is just a way for us to know that we're covering the subject enough. Even if you didn't use any LSI data, you would naturally include those keywords in order to properly cover the subject matter.

  • In the context that I've described, where a writer is selling each as a different product, it most certainly IS an either/or question.
  • Don't worry about LSI or SEO, just follow the basic SEO and write content four Users not for search engine, always keep in mind that you are writing content for users not for search engine, once you write the content than look for the keyword which one you want to rank for, if you are not showing in the first page than go for backlinking or outsource the backlinkg.. when you write quality article than automatically LSI comes with the flow..I hope this helps..
  • Google reliance on LSI articles is increasing because they are focusing more towards semantically related content rather than purely keyword optimised content. It is much more difficult to write LSI content and google realizes this.

I personally use LSI keywords in my articles just to make sure my keyword is surrounded with relevant keywords. Its always good idea if you mix SEO articles with Some LSI based articles. It would be natural eventually.
  • LSI is just the latest buzz-term marketeers are using to scare people into "oh no I don't know what that is I'll pay them to do it for me". Google has been using LSI for years.

SEO writing is writing content that has exact match terms and derivatives in it, mainly for the sole puropse of ranking. LSI is basically an attempt to make that writing more natural by sayng to people " hey just write for people, LSI is clever enough that you don't have to stuff it full of search terms".

It's a terrible idea to have an outsourced writer focus on SEO.

That's like letting a plumber do brain surgery.

  • IMO, SEO means saying "auto sales" in the article a number of times.

LSI means instead of saying just "auto sales" a number of times, mix it up with "car sales", "buying a car", "car salesman", "automotive sales" and etc..

LSI looks more natural while search engines [spiders] a strong understanding how to rank the article.
