I've identified some super high traffic keywords in my market with zero competition, but I don't know what to do with them or how to make them help my site grow.

For the sake of this post, let's say I'm a plumber, and I am already have an authority site for local searches. Now let's say I want to add content to the site. And I have a silo architecture like so:

PlumbingSite.com
Locations We Serve
Brentwood Plumber
Los Angeles Plumber
Hollywood Plumber
etc
Resources for plumbers (THE NEW SECTION I AM BUILDING)
How to become a plumber
How to replace a toilet
How to maintain a septic system
etc

Now, let's say I discovered that the "how to become a plumber" search phrase has tens of thousands of searches a day but zero competition and I can easily rank first for that.

The problem is that the site visitors for that term aren't going to be clients. But, I am already an authority site on plumbing and can rank for that term.

I am looking for creative ways to get get the how-to-become-a-plumber.html page to directly help my site rank better for hollywood plumber and my other related search terms, which is where I make my money.

What are some effective methods for this?
#competition #high #keywords #low #traffic

Why not put adsense on the pages with the high searches and nothing on pages that serve your local clients.

My main goal by a huge margin is to increase SERPs for the main site because the product being sold is really really valuable. A few dozen sales a year but well into the six figures. So the most important thing is generating authority on the site.

Are you planning on making this site one big authority site on plumbing?

If so there are probably numerous ways to monetize a site like that.

Your already selling some kind of plumbing product , why not focus on that aspect of the site instead of going after "how to be a plumber" .

Well, the site gets pretty good rankings but they're spread out through a lot of micro local areas and all those micro local areas have dropped from 1-3 to 7-10. i am hoping to capitalize on the high traffic terms that are related in content and bring more back links to the site. people might read the article at how-to-be-a-plumber.html and move on, and i might get lots of inbound traffic but they're not clients and i don't get back links. but i want to figure out how to get back links from that inbound traffic.

Oh I see you just want to use the extra traffic to get natural backlinks.

I've had a couple large sites that got good amounts of traffic but very few natural links.
