Sub Domain vs Page/Folder

Sadly today I am a little concern whether to delete some of mine subdomains website and just create those as page/folder instead....

It Seems That Page/Folder rank must better than subdomain.
Even google displays this with:
https://www.google.com/adsense
Google Videos
Google Images

With exceptions
translate.google.com
maps.google.com/
news.google.com
adwords.google.com
groups.google.com
toolbar.google.com

What's your opinion......??
Would you just go for page/folder over subdomains?
#domain #page or folder

    As a general rule:

I ALWAYS go with a \subfolder because it offers better SEO value. Google may sometimes view subdomains as completely different sites.

I only use sub-domains in cases where there will be large amounts of user-generated content. A good example would be a forum or message board for a main site.

Another case is where it wouldn't be technically possible to place a new section in a subdirectory. For example, Some web apps/software don't play nice unless they reside in the / (or root) of a domain or subdomain.

Just my personal preference, and you've probably seen many large sites go this route as part of their clean up effort when they were hit by Panda last february.

Great information, I was just searching through google a while ago, when I notice that some sub-domains do rank well but there included the folder/page in the links
example: health.about.com/ss/exercises (just for the example sake...)

My sub-domains are already some-what well establish so I will let them stay for now.....

Personally I like sub domains. Something funny happened to me. I created a subdomain on one of my main blogs and put all content from article sites. That subdomain got a PR of 1 while my main site which has 50+ articles all unique and none under 1000 words stayed at zero.

Of course it was only a PR1 but I thought that was odd.

        Best of luck
