Is 590 local searches a month enough to go after a niche?

I'm SURE I can get to Number 1 in google. Other than that, I think there are other ways to market this. Its an educational tool. I have access to a bunch of email addresses for the specific kind of tool I'm providing, so I may have other ways to generate traffic. I know that 590 is low, but I think I could make 50-100 a sale. So even 10 sales a month would be 500 bones. What do you think guys?

to go through google traffic alone it's not enough but if you have other marketing methods and ways of generating traffic then maybe!

I do, and this is a PRODUCT. So I'm not going to be totally relying on adsense, affiliates, etc. This product is something I've put together and could make specific teacher's lives a whole lot easier. Save them 15 minutes of class time and about 30 minutes of prep time PER DAY throughout the year. So I think I could really sell this thing at a premium.

I mean, if I could get 100 people a month on the site and sell to 10% of them, thats 500 to 1000 a month is what I'm thinking in revenue.

You think with 590 a month I could get to 100 visitors a month? Convert 10% of them?

it depends if your pre sale is good, or if the product is going to get more popular and the searches could go up to more than that amount per month. Also getting to spot 1 with such low search volume is important. In short there's no easy answer to that question

The top ten on this all have a page rank of like: 2,2,2,3,4,0,2,1,0

The 3 and 4 are FAIRLY unrelated...they are pages deep in a bigger site with nowhere near the content I'm going to provide

The backlinks to the PAGES I'll be competing with are very low. Some are ZERO. A couple have like 3 or 400 or so. Nothing crazy big or anything. And my keyword is not in the domain of any of the sites and Using SEOquake to look at keyword density I didn't even notice the keyword as a major theme on the pages.

What do you think, #1 a possibility here (I'm new at this)

It's possible yes but don't count on it if you get it it will take time and there's no guarantee you will achieve it and please don't try backlinking like crazy to get there google doesn't like that. Look at the google traffic as a bonus here not to base your business on, and as you said earlier you have other means as well to market it so this shouldn't be a problem

If it is a buyers keyword then 590 exact local would be plenty enough. After all 2 sales a month would make it a $100 a month site.

Dude. I would make sure my traffic is very targeted, my CTR is well into the double digits, and that I could definitely rank on page one of google in one of the top 3 spots. Plus I'd make sure my commission (or CPC if doing adsense) was double digit also.
