90,000 Exact Match Searches Per Month

I'm sitting on an exact match domain name that gets 90,000 world wide, and 18,000 local searches per month. Do you think it would be worth it for me to spend 600 dollars to get a quality site built so that I can monetize it? I don't want to spend 600 dollars and not be able to get my money back. What would you do?

Thanks!

Well if you keep sitting on it you won't get nowhere, do you? Are those 18,000 locals exact match? Did you analyse the competition? Is your keyword a buyer keyword? You do not give a lot of information, but I would rather pursue a buyer keyword that gets 5000 searches/mo over one that gets 18,000 but is merely attracting visitors that want information.

    Hope that helps,

Yes. The exact match keyword gets 18,000 local searches. It isn't a buying keyword but I figured if it got enough traffic I could monetize it with adsense or affiliate offers. I understand what your saying about the buying keywords though. Thanks for responding.

You don't need a $600 quality site to get started with ranking that kw.

          Dude...there's no guarantees.

I worked for months to get a site ranked with on a term that gets 300,000 EXACT match searches p/month. Guess how much traffic I'm getting in the #4 spot? Between 250 and 300 uniques p/day.

Google's contextual targeting tool tells me that the average CPC that advertisers should expect to pay for a click on this keyword is $1.36....I'm getting $0.52 p/click.

Every type of expected outcome for this keyword has failed to materialize. 90% or more of the traffic is clicking on the #1 result (the keyword is a brand name and my site doesn't have the trademark in the domain name) and nobody from the #2 spot on down is getting any love. Dunno why the CPC is so low though. Maybe the few people that DO bother clicking further down the page have something "wrong" with them that makes their traffic have no value and thus the payment for their clicks is down. I dunno.

Bottom line is this, save the $600 if you can get a basic site to rank. If so, take the money you make from the clicks (if it materializes) and then get something more attractive I guess.

Thanks. I was planning on having an amazon store on the site as well. The domain is "PinkFloydTheWall.org". I figured there were a lot of possibilities as far as monetization.

Amazon offers so-called aStores, it's a framed shop that doesnt give you SEO benefits though. There are also plugins for Wordpress that allow you to import Amazon products.

If you're after a tough keyword you better safe the $600 for SEO

Btw be carefull what you purchase when you're after software to automate the linkbuilding, many softwares won't help you to get ranked cause it's so heavily abused.

You always want to aim for local instead of Global when using the tool. Even with 18000 searches, you will get around 8000 clicks if you are ranking no 1. Ranking no 1 for such a keyword is not going to be easy.

spending $600 on a site is a lot my friend. You can build your own site with fresh content with a wordpress theme and get a site like Hostgator to host it for $9 a month! to get back links you can use many software for dirt cheap. you don't need to shell out $600 build the site yourself.

now a days you don't need html experience to build a site, a lot of these companies have drag and drop option which makes it easy to build a site. It only takes a couple of minutes to get into the swing of things.

There are no guarantees, but if you optimize your site with relevant keywords, you post content frequently, and you market you blog well, you can get enough traffic to potentially earn a decent living from ads and affiliate products. Good luck!
