Try to download SEO books from the web and read it. After that you need to do "data mining", You need to find big list of forums,blogs,web directories, bookmarking sites, article submission sites etc.

There are many free resources about SEO and internet marketing in general, what you really need is to take action and stop reading one ebook after the other, after all the best way to master something is by practice.

I believe SEO is the best way of promoting the website and also it is not much expensive.I prefer doing it myself it helps you to study new things and it is easy to carry out these steps they are very simple.Their are various SEO firms which you can help you in this case.

SEO Moz is a good resource, Avoid eZine articles, spam filled trash for the most part.

Search around the web and look for good SEO bloggers, I see a lot of great information being shared on Twitter too.

If you really want to get in to Internet Marketing, save up a couple of grand and head out to one of the big conferences, Affiliate Summit and PubCon are good starts, there is actually a trial run of Affiliate Summit Central happening in Austin this month and its only a couple of hundred bucks, and just down the road from you. Tickets are sold out, but follow Shawn on @affiliatetip and you might be lucky enough to win a ticket if he does a giveaway.
