I need your thoughts on this Google issue.
- SEO |
The situation I am about to talk about is true, but i will use made up keywords.
Ok let's say after 5 months I have gotten my site to #1 in google for it's main keywords "how to whiten teeth naturally", and it has been there for 3 months.
Within that 3 months although not directly targeting it my site ranks #1 for "how to whiten teeth"
And then begins to rank on the first page of google for a combo of words such as lighten teeth naturally, lighten teeth, naturally whiten teeth, whiten teeth safely etc. Note: the page that is ranking for all these is my static homepage which is meant to just target my main keyword.
I also had a few articles on a diff page of my site that were on page 1 for their longtail keywords.
In the past month I have been changing and re-writing this static homepage to try to get better conversions. My ranking was never affected.
In the past week i have changed it twice and Two days ago, I changed this static page to a "my story/journey" type of page and boom, about 24 hours later my site was no longer ranking on the first 5 pages of google for any of the extra keywords, and now is ranking #2 for my main keyword.
The articles that are on a diff page no longer rank on the first
few pages.
So I am wondering, could all of this happen simply because google did not like my new static page, therefore my entire site is penalized?
This does not seem like panda and a seo penalty? I have never used any type of blog network or automation seo software. All manual and relative and to be honest not even that many backlinks. Also I am still ranking #2 for my main keyword and on pages 5,6,9 etc for the other words I mentioned. So not completely de-indexed and lost all together. Thoughts on this??
If I were to roll back to a previous static page that was not affected would my site cone back to ranking for all of the words?? Or if I write a new page that I feel would be the most superior and valuable, would this bring it back do you think?
So... Panda or not? Or goole just didn't like my change an I can come back?
Kinda lost here, because right now I should have had about 150 visitors and I have had 15 today.
And I know, don't rely on google or put your eggs in one basket etc. This is my first site and a learning project. I am getting to other forms of attracting visitors, but am curious about this scenario.
Thanks a lot
