Just Want To put Some Minds At Rest Re Google Update

Hi Folks
There are loads of posts today about yesterday's Google update. I think we are all shocked (well unless you are Mr Rex who seems to be raking it in and enjoying things at our expense).

So I'm 99.9% convinced that this is not a permanent situation and here's why.

My main website is my ASAPiano site. Yes I've backlinked from various sources, mainly articles but also via Social Monkee, Blogs, Facebook, forums and you name it. Nothing I believe too spammy though.

My sales page was nailed on page 1 of Google for no end of keyphrases, so I just searched for a big one of mine - Beginner Piano songs. For the last 4 months my site was 3 down from top for this search term. I try it now and from out of nowhere 3 PDFs that I uploaded to Authorstream, and slideshare are page 1 and my sales page is nowhere.

Now seriously, you cannot tell me that this is a permanent situation. These PDF's were only put there as another means of backlinking and TBH I would probably settle for this. I've gone from 1 salespage to 3 PDF's.

So what I'm trying to get at is that this is very early days with this update. I fully expect my sales page to return...maybe even stronger and I would hope that many of you guys find the same.

Sit this out and I'm sure it won't be as bad as it appears.

That's funny, after reading this I just checked on a keyword that I used a pdf to try help with rankings and it shows 2 spots on page one from two different sites.

The pdf is actually the websites page with all links to amazon still clickable etc so would be interesting to see if any decent traffic comes through these now.

    I agree, it's only early.

That is because according to search engine land, slidshare is one of the early winners of this update, they got 30% more visibility in Google.

I figured with all the complaints, its to early to determine if lost rankings are permanent. I think it still making adjustments and settling in. There are alot of sites to be moved around and re-ranked. I'm amazed at how many people know about "Google Dance" but fail to apply it in this situation.

Calm down people, give it some time, then complain.

I guarantee you Google is freaking out right now. CODE RED CODE RED. I still think they'll revert to the old algo, work out the bugs and kinks of the new update and re-launch it in a month or two.

    It's fun to watch though..

You just made an entire post about how you've created artificial backlinks to build rank. The more people post the more obvious it becomes that Googles new algorithm works haha

This to me proves it doesn't work (if it remains as it is). For all you know my site could be the most informative website available in a particular field but because I've created backlinks to it then it's been penalised and replaced by less informative ones because they haven't?

There is a brand new home buyer program that I was number 1 for. It is set to launch on May 4th. I had written some quality pieces for it. The news story launched last night and I was checking the rank and it had dissappeared along with the majority of my keywords I had been top ten with for a year. I hope this is going to go back normal soon!

Yep. I agree its WAY to early for anyone to panic. Things tend to shuffle for a bit right after any algo shift.
