In my business a carpet cleaner will try to rank for city specific keywords like "carpet cleaning Tampa" "or carpet cleaning riverview fl' things like that.
Well since this last update Stanley Steemer who is a huge company in my industry now is ranking number one or two for all my needed keywords and they have no on page or off page SEO for these keywords. they went from nowhere to the top overnight. Looks like google made them king for any carpet cleaning related search no matter what city you are in.

There has been talk of correlation between offsite advertising and online rankings. This might be something to look at, as I see their stupid commercials all the freakin time!

I checked your competitor website and I found they deserve top position under your industry.Because domain has high PR,good backlinks and very old domain age.

High PR has nothing to do with rankings or at least it used to be that way. Google has change the rules of the game again and it will take sometime to figure out exactly what the heck G wants now.

I believe about two years ago people started noticing bias towards larger organizations.

Although google denied it then I don really think anyone doubts it now that google would simply rather "do business" with larger players.

Check their all incoming link with anchor text and without anchor text. may be they have good old incoming links from good PR sites.

You should update your webpage content.

I posted in the other thread you created. Stanley Steamer is not your problem. Your website has tons of spammy backlinks pointing at it. This is exactly what the most recent Google algorithm change was targeting. That is why you are not ranking. It has nothing to do with favoring the big guys over the little guys (whether that is true or not). It has everything to do with your SEO.

I used Stanley Steamer once out here in Sacramento. TERRIBLE SERVICE. $300+ to clean the rugs and none of the stains were removed. Went local with a small business owner to try again and it cost me just over $100 and all the stains were removed and the carpet looked brand new.

    Screw big corporations.
