Seems Like the New Algo is Working Out the Kinks

While reading a few "the sky is falling" style posts here on the recent update I was rather surprised to find that there was a blank page sitting in the #1 position for "Make Money Online" and an under construction page in the #2 position for "Quality Backlinks".

Today the problem with "Make Money Online" seems to have been fixed but it's still the same with the seomamba site on "Quality Backlinks".

Like someone else said, it's a very large inter-related database. We're talking about trillions of connections and interconnects between content and links and that's going to take time to push through. Google is constipated and there's no such thing as a digital laxative so this could take a few days.

IMO they probably manually removed the make money site after the 45333777734 inquiries they got about it....

They have manually adjusted this, they say on their forums that they don't do this but it's a complete lie. If they have ironed out the kinks then I the pope's grandmother, there are thousands of crappy serps.

I'm sorry but the people above who indicated manual action is being taken don't know what they are talking about. You can look at countless serps as I have and you can see changes in some cases almost on an hourly basis.

OP its simple. Against all common sense and thinking people have been making claims about the algo as if Google flicks a button and the new results are immediately visible.

anyone that takes even one minute to think about it KNOWS this is not the case. Google CRAWLS websites and indexes and then sorts them. When an algo changes there are all kinds of data about sites that Google does not have yet until it CRAWLS the sites again.

As anyone who has done any SEO knows it can be DAYS before a site is recrawled. there are BILLIONS of pages to crawl.

SO THERE WAS NEVER ANY REASON TO ASSUME THAT IMMEDIATE RESULTS WOULD REFLECT WHAT THE ALGO WAS GOING TO MAKE A SERP LOOK LIKE.

THose running around hooting and hollering and now claiming that manual action is being taken just don't have the first clue about how an algo works with a crawler. Its just no end of silly to be thinking the way people have been thinking.

Folks...That site is an awful example. With all the attention that it had gotten, Google was almost compelled to take manual action. I'm not saying they did but with all of the attention, you simply don't know.

Google are bunch of lying B****%DS. It's clear they fixed that manually. Can you imagine if word got out to news outlets that googles search engine brings back a blank page for such a highly searched term? Bing would have a field day if google didn't fix that.

There is no denying that the algo is still in progress but to think that this is the reason for that site being removed is utter nonsense. Funny how they never came by my sites first, instead there "algo" fixed "make money online" Bunch of W****ERS.

Just an angry tirade - I presume one of your sites tanked - facts are across hundreds of serps sites are rising and falling as the algo works itself out. Its the way algos works. Its amazing how many people are involved in SEO that don't have the first clue how things work. There is absolutely no denying that you will always get huge differences in a new algo when there are ton loads of sites that have not been crawled.

The update is clearly not complete yet. This ALWAYS happens with EVERY update. It takes days (sometimes even weeks) before all the shuffling stops and you really see how an algo change affected things.

As for the "make money online" example, I doubt Google is going out and chasing all of these terms down manually. That's not the only example like that. There are probably hundreds or thousands of them.

    Want a couple more...

Search "python hosting" or the word "something" and look at the top result...

^^ THIS!!! Seriously people... says a lot about your "business model" when one update (mind you a pretty big one) makes you all panic. Google manually removing results? You really believe that?

On June 11, 2011, the traffic on my main site dropped to +/- 10% of what it had been doing (PANDA). It remained at that low state until July 6, when it returned to its normal growth curve. If I were to do a traffic trend (ignoring those 25 days), it really didn't affect my site longterm.

The problem is with the loss of money those 25 days cost. Even though my serp position recovered, the dollars are forever gone.

This hit is worse than Panda. I'm certain my site will recover again -- it's an authority site. It just stinks seeing 75 visitors on a day when I should have had 50 times as many. 25 days of that will hurt.
