Google update - let's not panic!

OK folks...let me be honest on this one.

I've spent the last 2 days thinking about Google's latest update/slap. Like many of you I have lost rankings for some of my best sites but I'm not panicking.

Why not you say?

Well...think about it. Google is the NUMBER 1 search engine on the Internet. It's reputation is built on search relevancy and the quality of search results. We all know there is too much re-spun crap out there and Google wants to de-index all this rubbish in favour of quality content. This is a GOOD THING.

So be smart. Stop spinning articles. Concentrate on writing decent blogs. It's not difficult if you really know/love your niche. Add value to your customers and I GUARANTEE the money will follow. I don't spin articles so I'm not sure why some of my sites have lost SERPs. Could be the Google "dance". Conversely some of my sites have improved rankings without any fresh content or backlinking.

We all have different opinions and that is our strength. Even though many of us will target the same niches/products the content will be unique because of our different opinions and writing styles.

So don't panic. Give Google a few days to iron out latest update and revisit your sites. Keep backlinking and remember that content is KING.

I hope this helps contain some of the hysteria out there!

    • Keep blacklinking. This is important too. Remember link diversity and link juice. I'm switching to a new strategy:

Backlinks -> Buffer site (Hubpages/Squidoo) -> Money site.

In theory this is very much diversified and shouldn't be slapped by Google either. There is also plenty of link juice there too.
