First Page, Now What? New Strategy?

I finally got my website to page one after 2-3 weeks of making links. Now it seems like my strategy that got my website up there isn't working any more.

It has stayed up there for about 2 weeks and has only been moving couple of positions up and down, but Im trying to move it to top 3 positions.

What I don't understand is that do I need to change my strategy?

Continue to build high quality backlinks and make sure you are building an email list, that way all the traffic you get from the search engines you will have a method of following up with them, over and over again.

    • Keep writing quality content and focus on getting relevant backlinks from high Page Rank sites. You can also use guest posting and press releases to gain exposure and increase your rankings. Update your website on a regular basis and keep your visitors engaged.

        Have a Plan B!

You are now a target for every unscrupulous person in your niche, a quick 100,000 scrapebox links and you site will plummet in the rankings, so start a social media campaign and collect email addresses.

There's no way Google lets this continue. At least I'd hope not.

Social media is exactly what I'm doing these days.
Never promoted it heavily before on my main site, but decided to start. Made a facebook page, twitter page, and using stumble upon and share buttons on my page.

Traffic has been better than expected.. triple of what I used to get solely on Google. It's nice to check my analytics to show more traffic coming from social media than from Google.
Twitter has done nothing for me, but I'm getting traffic from Facebook and a looot from Stumbleupon.

One downside is that Stumbleupon traffic really sucks, but it's still nice to have heavy traffic

As for rankings after implementing social media on a site that never had it before...Every keyword has improved in ranking and I finally made it to the first page for my main keyword.
Whether that's from social media or from the recent algo update who knows...

Same here, I went from 800 visitors a month to over 4000 in 22 days this month (6500 as of yesterday at the same time traffic from google dropped from 35% to 11% my aim is to get that below 10%.

The difference with social media traffic compared to organic traffic is that SM traffic will come back time and time again

Try to get link juice and keep writing fresh content for the site that engages the reader and stop him for some time this can help you to gain higher position.

Whenever I get my clients to page one I tell them to start publishing new content

Then I start pumping out the high quality links in a higher volume than I was doing originally
