SEO Powersuite Professional VS. FREE

Hello Warriors,

I've spent the last few weeks researching and testing different seo software and came across one that I really like but wanted to do some "homework" and get experienced seo's feedback on this one.

So I downloaded the free version of SEO Powrsuite and it seems like a great tool.

This leads me to wonder if getting the Professional edition is worth the upgrade over the free edition and whether it will show specific data that I would otherwise not get.

I know you can't save with the free version and it limits your backlinks to 1000 I believe. But otherwise it seems like all the other features in tact according to their website comparison of the free vs pro version.

SEO Powersuite is not cheap plus has an ongoing fee to use after the 6 month period. So have you guys seen a real ROI from this software and is it better, more accurate, and more complete then other tools?

Does the SEO Spyglass provide all backlinks for a specific site?

Other software I looked into are Market Samurai and Traffic Travis and both seem to be quite cheaper then SEO Powersuite.

Thanks for your feedback!

  • Hey Alpha.
I have been a warrior here for some time and I ran a search on SEO Powersuite here cause I wanted to talk about the recurring fee.

I also have done a lot of research and I own Market Sam. and I use the free edition (but don't own Traffic Travis).

I also have "tried them all".

I actively run 13 sites and work on countless client sites. I mostly want a tool to track my own sites.

I love Market Samauri but they do not have Website auditor and the MS backlink analyzer is good because it shows me their anchor texts and groups by PR but just leads me to the Majestic SEO site for more information ( I don't like the majestic SEO site, it's not very useful to me).

Market Sam. has been indispensable to me and is definitely worth $100 bucks.

Traffic Travis is great only for one thing and that is rank tracking. To be honest I haven't used it much in the last 60 days cause I been wokring hard on recovering from the Google slap and just using MS to check my rankings.

So I am VERY VERY VERY ready to buy SEO Powersuite. It is a professional tool for someone that makes money and is serious about ranking on the Internet.

I think it may be the best tool out there. However I also despise the idea of a monthly/yearly ongoing fee. I hate that! But is it worth it?

Will I make MORE money with SEO Powersuite? Hell yes I will. Will it justify the cost ?

Yes I think so (but I am not ready to buy yet I still need .. courage ha) I want it for $99 and I will buy right now. I can get the Pro edition for $199 but that is still $200 that I can use elsewhere...

So I have been going over the modules, I don't understand SpyGlass well enough to really get excited, there are a lot of great tools for checking competition and they are free so .. I still have to check it out.

Rank Tracker looks great of course (I heard that with a lot of keywords it "times out" and gets "blocked by Google" about 50% complete and never completes. That's for something like 100 KWs searching ranks about 500 pages deep or something like that.

All I know is that there is a small group of people complaining about it. They might just be stupid who knows. But that is an issue, I heard you solve that basically by getting proxies (more money?)

The link manager looks really really nice, I am looking at that really hard.

Oh ! And have you read what they are DEVELOPING for 2012? I don't know if buying the PRO now will let you upgrade the new stuff they are bringing out

LINKASSISTANT on WARRIOR FORUM... can you answer that question???

But they have like 4 really big tools they are adding.

So I am on the fence still cause I am cheap.
There is another contender I am looking at the is a competitor.. ask Me and I will tell you

    • So I went ahead and made the purchase and wanted to leave some feedback for anyone who is on the fence about this software.

First off, I'd like to address the whole situation about live update plan:

A live plan is required to keep the software up to date after 6 months, however it's really not that bad and quite affordable. If you purchase a 2 year plan for $199, it comes out to be just $8.33 per month. Now if you compare this cost to something like SEOMoz you are looking at paying $99 each month. That comes out to be a whopping $2,000 more over the course of two years. If you think of it that way, it's really not that bad.

I can understand that it costs them money to constantly check for updates and stay up to date with algorithm changes and under 10 bucks a month for me is a very reasonable fee, especially to have the assurance that my software is most accurate and up to date.

Allow me to offer an example:

If you are an accountant, you are forced to purchase software with an annual license fee that can be as high as $1,400 and that's each and every year.

If anything the fee I am paying to SEO Powersuite is motivation to actually use their software to make that money back and then some.

I too have come across threads where users were bashing on the company that releases their software claiming that the live update charges are unfair however if you research most professional level SEO software do have an added fee attached - and as high as 200 dollars annually (which is half of what you would pay with SEO Powersuite).

I noticed a pattern with those who tend to complain about the fees. It doesn't really seem like they are too successful as they otherwise would be able to cover those fees without any concerns or hesitations.

I feel like if someone can't invest 10 bucks a month in their business, they are not doing the right things to succeed.

A true entrepreneur will be willing to invest money into something they know will generate a return. It really comes down to risk and reward principles. If you're making $10K per month in profits, you likely wont care about a 10 dollar fee (or say a 200 dollar fee every two years). You pay it and use it to make you more money. On the flip side if you're a newbie looking to learn but not serious enough to invest your time and money, there really isn't much that can be done for that person until his / her mindset is right.

      Just a thought.

Ultimately it will come down to the functionality of the software and so far, I am quite impressed. I've used SEO Spyglass quite a bit and found some really valuable backlinks through that tool. Rank Tracker is also a really neat tool for analyzing keywords. I have yet to dig into Website Auditor and Link Assistant but look forward to learning more about those tools and using them more to help with my SEO.

Link-Assistant has a really good tutorial guide on seo and on their software which many beginners studying seo (like myself) will appreciate. Also I am learning a great deal from their software and from my understanding the automated updates are perfect for setting up your seo business on autopilot.

The updates are frequent and the reports are really useful (and plentiful). You'll find dozens of different reports with charts and an organized easy to understand format.

I feel if I am getting a great deal of value from this software an experienced seo professional will definitely find this tool indispensable.

I should note that if you have a slow computer with a basic processor, be careful as this software is VERY RESOURCE INTENSIVE. If you have an old computer you may not be able to handle any other tasks or programs being open so your computer while running the reports may be unusable. Plus your computer could get really hot due to the use of resources (may even require a cooling pad).

Also keep in mind that analyzing data for some sites may take a very long time, in one case taking 10 hours to run.

Because of this hurdle I am investing in a MacBook Pro after I generate $2000 income. This certainly will eliminate the first problem and proxies may help with the second one. I find this a great motivating factor to succeed.

      Hope this helps.

Also I've used Market Samurai and really like the layout and the basic tools and functionality it gives you. However after having used SEO Powersuite, I must say that Market Samurai doesn't even offer 10% of what SEO Powersuite offers in terms of features.

Again I do like Market Samurai but haven't used it since buying SEO Powersuite.

I also tried a trial version of Traffic Travis - I liked some of the things in it but again feel it is more of an entry level software as opposed to a professional level software.

I found WEBCeo to be extremely complicated to figure out and after several attempts it failed to produce any reports or data. I also found that it is not Mac OS compatible, which made this one a deal breaker for me. Plus SEO Powersuite is more affordable and has a great reputation in SEO.

Thanks for all your feedback and input and I hope this can help someone on here.

      Cheers.

    • Hi webjedi,

thank you for your interest in SEO PowerSuite and the tool we're currently developing.

It will actually be the fifth multi-functional tool in SEO PowerSuite (rather than four separate tools).

The tool will address social media aspects of today's SEO and SEM - we're building it to help users get the most from social media marketing and manage their reputation in the most efficient way.

So far we're now sure about the final cost of its development and support, thus we haven't decided on the price yet.

We're also not sure if current SEO PowerSuite users will get it free. Anyway, even if we'll have to charge additional fees for it, there'll be a special offer for our existing users.

No more details to disclose so far, please stay tuned for the updates from Link-Assistant.Com!

  • No backlink checker provides all of the backlinks for any site. However, in tests I have done, SpyGlass has found more backlinks than Ahrefs or Majestic.

Market Samurai is a piece of junk and shouldn't even be in the same discussion as PowerSuite.

Spyglass alone is worth the price. The free edition limits you to 1000 backlinks. Depending on the site you are analyzing, you could be missing a lot. I've pulled 15,000-20,000 backlinks with it on a lot of sites. It will hog up a lot of resources to analyze that many backlinks, but depending on the need it can be worth it.

I've never had the problem WebJedi mentions with Rank Tracker, but I never search more than 100 listings deep. Why bother? Almost nobody looks past page one, and even fewer look past page 2-3. If you are outside the top 100, you are completely irrelevant. Most of my clients have between 50-150 keywords we are targeting. So I pull a lot of rankings. I use some of the "safe search" features so that I don't get blocked by the search engines. It might take some time with those features, but I just let it run overnight, so it doesn't impact me.

If you don't need to save data, provide reports to clients, or ever analyze more than 1000 backlinks, the free version should be sufficient for you. Otherwise, one of the paid versions is worth the price.

    • That's pretty good info MikeFriedman.
I was also thinking that it is irrelevant to search so deep in the results anyway.

However, I respectfully disagree on Market Sam. That puppy really has provided a lot of great intel, I have made a lot of money with that program. I am thinking it's a good starter, or more tailored for someone that is a moderate IMer.

One thing I am excited about with Powersuite is the 2012 planned updates. It just looks great all the way around.

    • I think it really is what you do with it.

Do think you need to .. do you think you want to ... track all of your competitor's backlink sources for instance?

Would you like to check the rankings of your site for say 20-30-100 different keywords?

You know, really in depth stuff, like keyword discovery untapped niches and automatic backlink management.

It's super powerful and many top SEO guys would swear by it. Super nice deal is that they have a full version free trial to use as long as you want, you just can't save or export your data.

So you can certainly kick the tires

I am now at the point where I want to save my data and measure it over time so I am thinking, is it worth $199 ?
  • The blocking from Rank Tracker can be fixed in the settings. There is an option to set time between searching the next page. You can also use proxies. It will take much longer with the timeouts, but you won't be blocked.

Inside of rank tracker they also show you the history of your rankings. For instance, I can see graphs of where I was 2 months ago vs now. Don't be shocked there is a 'live plan' fee and it will stop working if it expires. They can say all they want that it doesn't, but mine always stops working immediately.

    • Oh so lame.. I thought the fee was just to keep the algorithm compatibility matched. Sounds more like .. fleecing

Also. Goosefrabah is your name? That is freaking HILARIOUS haha

So I suppose it is time to open this conversation to alternatives.. I have downloaded and used the 30 days of Advanced Web Ranking. It's also a pretty nice system it has an auditor and a suburb rank tracker.

They also request a continuing fee so they can pay (I think it is SEOmoz) for backlink information. So to check your backlink sources and those of your competitors you pay a monthly or as you go I don't remember.

I do like the program though.
Mike what is your take on AWR vs SPS?
      • [1] reply
    • That was changed back in February 2012. Within the new pattern, if you choose not to pay for search algo updates, the software will keep working and will support different search engines until we update algorithms for them.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • How does SEO Powersuite compare to SEOMoz? (Besides costing a fraction of SEOMoz).
  • I purchased my SEO PowerSuite a week ago so far no complains..

I have used Market Samurai / CuteRank / Traffic Travis - These are junks!!!!!!

SEO PowerSuite is the best SEO Software out there! ;D
  • I think you really put it succinctly.
Great purchase and to your success !!
  • I am staying tuned on the "5th tool release" .....
  • mine isn't working as well. The link assistant said it worked but it doesn't.

I didn't upgrade now it is working...

No tracking for a new project at all. ...

I am still waiting answer from them and I do reckon it is a crap piece of software.

    • I know this is an old discussion, so I hope someone will see it.

I am considering purchasing SEO Powersuite. Can you export the keywords to Excel using a MAC? I tried another paid tool that was great but I couldn't export the Keywords and Data to Excel.

Also, will it show you the Google Competition Search Result in Numbers (when I put my keyword phrase into Google Search with quotation marks "keyword phrase".

I bought Yoast Premium. Will it conflict with that?

Is SEO Powersuite still great in 2014?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, if anyone will still see it a couple of years later.

      Linda
  • Also wondering if SEO Powersuite is still the powerful force it was in 2012, now.

Looking to purchase a solid SEO program that can do it all and haven't kept up-to-date with the field in a while now.

Be great to hear some reviews.
  • It's good but personally I prefer browser based programs, I've found them to be quicker and a little bit more reliable.

SEO Powersuite still does what it says, it can replace a lot of tools (such as screaming frog and a few others) I definitely like it more than Internet Business Promoter

But my favorite by far is still SEO Moz.
  • hi my friend
for software I do not really do a lot of trust
trying to publish is personnaly find backlinks in social mefias
    it takes a little time
but certainly you're going to have a good result after
  • Buying a software for SEO i don't trust them as we know there updates coming by Google like penguin, Pirate, pigeon. all those can be blocked and it won't last for longtime if you are having it in the organic way then you can have the positions for a longer time.
