Does Google Value Links to Out To Other Sites? Can you Avoid This?

You don't want to put links to other sites in the content but if you do will you notice any SEO benefit? I see it as, a trust factor, being able to provide relevant links to more content, etc. But what do you all think, worth it? Not worth it?

I mean how many sites these days really link out to other ones? The legit ones do, but with the "quick" sites for ranking they are only linking out to affiliate links, etc.

Can't Google see that? Would it be a factor or not so much?

    A lot of people think linking to "authority" websites like wikipedia ups your trust factor

    I don't do it, in my opinion it doesn't really matter

    I link to sources sometimes and that's it
