Will Country-Specific Domains Rank Elsewhere?

I'm new to the concepts of International SEO. Here's my question: How would a .biz and .mx domain compare for ranking power in 5 Central American countries(overall)?

.mx would obviously rank better in Mexico. But does that limit its power to rank in other countries? I just bought an EMD.biz for my kw because I want to rank in all 5 countries.

    yes it will rank well in other countries as well, eevn though .com, .net, .org have better chances of ranking though it doesnt necessarily mean other domains doesnt have chance.
    one of my friend's site .in is on google's page one aroud the globe for several keywords with high competition. There is always success after hard work.

    Although .com is preferable. However, there shouldn't be any issues.

    It is individual pages that rank. And so your pages from .mx would still rank for searches in other geographies as well.

    On other note, do you guys think ranking power is different between a .com.mx and a .mx?

    I've heard .com.mx is better for SEO but I'm really not sure. I'm looking to buy some other ones and have the option between either one.
