Hi,

Starting a new ecommerce project selling BB Guns.

I've got both these domains (bb-guns.co.uk and bbgun.co.uk) but which do people think would be the best to use for this project in SEO terms?

I've heard that hyphens are counted against in comparison to non-hyphenated domains, but what about throwing a plural / non plural domain into the mix!?

How often do non plural domains rank well for the plural search term?

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

All the best,
Rich.

Its not that hyphens are counted against you, its that they are a spam signal. Now, that doesnt mean a hyphen domain is automatically deemed a spam domain. I have a hyphen .com that brings in 20K visitors a month, organically.

I would still advise against it. My hyphen is 14 years old with lots of authority. I would never start fresh with a hyphen domain. The problem is, if your structure is bad and you end up with duplicate content, that hyphen is just another negative signal you have to deal with.

    Go with the non hyphen.

the bbgun domain looks like it would have more credibility. I personally avoid hyphenated domains.
