changing url of deindexed sites

Hi, so penguin hit 3 of the 7 pages on my site. the only way i can find them on google is by typing the exact url.

if i changed the url of these pages from mysite com/my-keyword to mysite com/mykeyword and kept all the content the same would this new url be penalized? If my on site seo is fine which i think it is and it is just the links coming in that got my site deindexed would this work?

basically i just don't know if keeping my content the same would penalize me, the other deindexed url obviously wouldn't be working anymore

I know i would be starting over with these new urls in terms of ranking them, I just don't want to lose the content that I worked hard on

thanks

In theory... No they wouldn't be deindexed

But what you need to realize is what Google usually does is penalize a keyword on your website not just a page

So you get slapped for that keyword on all pages.

Now this isn't always the case as sometimes people have their tags page out ranking the original page on the same keyword

If this is the case then by all means give it a shot! Just I wouldn't use the same content... I know you don't want to lose it but hey that content was penalized already what's stopping it from happening again

If they de-indexed only certain pages of your site but not the entire site, then changing the URL might help ... there's really only one way to find out. If you think those pages were over-SEO'd or too spammy, now would be a great time to fix any issues like that.

Just be sure you have internal links from your indexed pages to the new ones and that should help with getting them indexed and looking good to Google.

ok thanks, i think i might give it a try.

Is it wrong to think that since my page won't even come up in google unless i type the exact url in that it is lost forever, or can pages come back from that type of reindexing?

Penguin does not affect stuff on a page by page basis....its an overall site thing

changing the URL is not a great idea....its not the URL got got the penalty right?

It has to do with the content or links.....if there are bad links then I guess you could change the URL but that would not matter much.

well my homepage dropped from position 1 to 4, 2 pages dropped a few pages and 4 are completely de indexed, all 4 were on pages 1-3, so i think it does affect it on a page by page basis...if not then those 4 pages would not be de indexed right now.

the point of changing those 4 page urls is to save the content i worked hard on and now those pages will be fresh without the poor links linking to them
