Disable SEO Pressor?

Those who's sites were negatively affected by the Penguin update, have you disabled SEO Pressor? Would you recommend doing this?

I know SEO Pressor only serves as a guide mostly, but it automatically bolden, italicizes, and underlines the targetted keyword so do think that might be considered as over optimization?
#search engine optimization #disable #pressor #seo
  • I've deactivated SEO Pressor. I had several sites drop and since then I've added content and de-optimized them (got rid of seo pressor, decreased my kw density, h1/h2 tags, etc). My sites have started to come back (currently in the #2 and #3 positions for respective KWs). I'll let you know if I crawl all the way back to #1.

    • That is interesting to hear.

What percentage exactly did you decrease your keyword density to?

How long exactly did it take for you to see an improvement in rankings after you did all that?

Did you still put your targetted keyword in the first and last sentence of the content?

  • The few sites of mine which were not negatively affected by Penguin are using SEO Pressor also so it seems that having the keyword bolden, italic and underlined isn't a bad thing. Maybe its a combination of other things like keyword density which cause an 'over optimization' filter to trip.
  • I use SEOPressor on most of my sites but i turned off the option that lets the plugin auto highlight keywords due to the glaring footprint of "wp-content/plugins/seo-pressor/templates/css/styles.css" I manually highlight my keywords.

You think Google isn't smart enough to read your page source and see that you are openly using SEO plugins?

Having said that, my sites using SEOPressor have been effected 50/50. That's just me. SEOPressor is a great plugin. Don't get me wrong. But use it to analyze your site and not to do the highlighting etc.

The point of this post is to open people's eyes regarding SEO plugins and their footprints. Don't let them do all the work. Use them as a tool for guidance and do some work manually if you want to break away from the herd.
  • I just have know that Google panda and penguin will do harm to websites, I find it's hard to get good ranking when Google updates.
  • I never installed this plugin!!! I have joomla and wordpress sites but I never heard of it!!! As I do most of the SEO things manually......
  • If you haven't blocked your wp-content folder from being spidered you are yelling for Google to see what seo cheat type plugins you are using. Think about that a moment.

    • Is Google against people using SEO plugins then or only specific ones? In what way is it cheating just because the plugin automates some of the on page SEO things?
  • I am using Easy WP SEO and follow all steps to reach the high score but all my keywords hits by latest google algo and i am suddenly drop to bottom.
