Now a days hearing a lot about 'Penguin'. Indeed, suddenly this sea bird has become 'Famous' in the Cyber World.
Anyway, what is the definition of 'BAD' backlinks? Like a .edu do-follow forum profile backlink or a Irrelevant PR-4 blog comment can be 'BAD'? From what type of links we need to be stayed away?

Forum profiles & blog comments on high OBL blogs are bad. Other than that, I consider links as low-value or high-value links.

Profiles & comments blasted out to thousands of posts = bad.

Yes i think it is bad because it is not relevant and google can consider it as spamming therefore we should avoid it and should go some natural resource to get do-follow and high page rank backlinks.

irrelevant niche links are always bad, even they are high page ranked but Google still consider them bad. and too many profile links is also not a good sign
