Check this video from a few months ago by Matt Cutts about quality sites not needing SEO.

Google's Matt Cutts: Good Content Trumps SEO

Please tell me what defines a quality site in google's eyes, because I don't get it.

    Basically what he said was, If you leave out certain on-page tags, for example a meta description tag, Google will still try to scrape a highly relevant snippet of text from the same page & return that text in the SERPs.

    The concept has always been the same; quality websites generally have a lot of authority links. The biggest factor has always been who is linking to you. It's difficult to game this system for the valuable keywords.

    They don't seem to have cared about the little guy SEO much in the past, but the latest update certainly put them in the crosshairs.

    the concept of quality content is a scam

    google doesnt know what quality content is and never will, it is and always will be about the backlinks.

    I get high pr homepage links to my filippino written content because i have a relationship with the webmaster not because my article on acne scarring is any better than anyone elses.

    Until an organization that has a social proof mechanism (like facebook) launches a SE it is about links nothing more
