Personally I think not really useful, I rather spend my time to seriously maintain my Facebook page.

I have tried it out a few times and have found it to be extremely expensive and not worth the money. My best suggestion would be to at least give it a shot because depending on what you are advertising I am sure results will be different for everyone. I was promoting an entertainment site (stupidDOPE.com).

I have had some decent results with Facebook ads, but you have to be willing to split test and adjust, if you want results. Facebook's "just click here to quickly create an ad to promote your product or service" will only serve one party in this deal - Facebook! One last tip: try to push the limit a bit with the content of your ad. Controversy might be your friend - unless you're running for office, of course.

Hello, I had decent results with facebook last year. However, in the last few weeks I've gone back to knock out a few campaigns and it appears that costs are rising, particularly CPM advertising doesn't seem to be available for external websites. Haven't figured my way around that cost per click cost yet, outside of creating a fanpage or app, making it a less attractive option for me.

From chatting to people who do well with them it can depend on which niches/ likes you target with your adds. I Have noticed many targeting similar IM niches so a few curve balls to those same people would be a good plan

I have found that it can be very challenging myself. Even with all of the demographic filtering it seems that people have to really be enticed to even notice your ad. I left it alone myself but not to say that if someone spent some time learning it and split testing as mentioned above that it does not work.

With Facebook ads you really have to keep in mind what your goal is.

I mean in the end of the day it's not likes and shares that you want. You want profit.

Personally, I had a dating tips website that got hit hard by the last Panda (because someone sabotaged it with scrapebox links)

My traffic went from 1000 visitors a day to 5 visitors. Depressing I know.

However, I made a facebook page and starting using it only to build a list. This worked pretty well and now my opt-ins are up.

Have to say I found them to be a big waste of time and money. But that was maybe 6 months ago so it may be different now. And I guess what your advertising majes a huge difference. So it may work for out for you.

I've been advertising on FB since 2008. Almost any niche can be profitable, but very few scale well and over the years FB's tightened up what they'll allow. Most recently I've been promoting my own apps, before that I was promoting CPA apps (like dating), and prior to that ASoTV's through a CPS network.

I have used it from 5 months ago. I got a lot of fans and new members in my microjobs site but ALL of the new members are not converting at all.
So, finally I decided to stop using it. I read a nice article before talking about people's behavior on FB are for entertaining and socializing and it needs good efforts to convince them to buy a thing but of course this depends on the niche.

I get my clicks but the conversion rate sucks and it's just a huge risk of money if your a newb with internet marketing.

The secret to Facebook ads in my opinion is not to sell or try to direct traffic to a page.

For example if I have a website/product teaching French I might set up a Facebook fan page and set my site up to post automatically to that page whenever I post.

I then set up a simple Facebook ad that says something like

" if you want to learn French press 'like' "

It's non intrusive and people who are on Facebook and learning or want to learn French will be more inclined to hit like than click on a link for an ad stating 'learn French , click here' and taken off to some other website.

People love clicking like on things they like... It's like an itch!

Anyways what this does is build up a targetted audience so when you next post they see it on their feed and may click through.

The secret then is to also engage with udience you build... S post questions, answer any posts on your FB page.

This works very well for me.

If you want to pay for clicks through to a landing page or product page use Adwords.

I have made money with facebook, but you need to have the right niche, otherwise you are waisting your time.

But realistically, think to yourself, why do you go on facebook, to click ads, or just catch up with friends and update your profile with random junk! The latter is true, and most people on facebook are not there to be sold to. Just a thought.

Depends on how you define success. Conversion wise, generally you can expect a very good ROI but also VERY low Conversion Rating CTR (I`m talking about 0.01%-0.03%, rarely more).

Still you do get a lot of free Brand Awareness and this will show in Branded organic traffic.

All in all, FB gives good value for your advertising dollar, but it can only be used as a complimentary advertising channel as it simply cannot generate solid revenue stream, unless you are talking about some kind of FB related product (i.e. FB app)

I have advertise on it for a year. I found out if you are advertising a website, don't count much that your new traffic will convert. However, if you are using Facebook Ads to advertise a Facebook page, you would probably have a better luck as long as the Facebook page will optimized for a landing page.

I never have any success at FB ads, so I gave it up last month.
