You need to write a decent review of the product or service and add the link a couple of times. Near the top and near the bottom are usually good places to start.

Generally you need to have a lead in statement that makes people click. Once above the fold and then once at the closing of your copy.

I place one at the top, middle and bottom of an article

I also have an image in the top left with my affiliate link

I usually just to one or two, one near the top and one towards the bottom, unless the article is really long and then I include one in the middle as well.
