Pretty good tips overall.

People will continue to blast away blindly with automated tools. But there's value in commenting manually. I'd much rather comment on a handful of DoFollow / quality blogs than blast thousands of junk blogs with Scrapebox.

Blog commenting is the best source for getting good backlinks and traffic.

Some good tips for blog commenting. I seem to have better results doing them manually than using any sort of automated software.

Yes, certainly good tips. But I have found many high PR blog admins are really lazy. So I can't expect anything faster from those guys even I wrote very relative content!

- Comment in relevant blogs
- Don't use any kind of gimpy words like "awesome post", "nice post", "thanks for sharing" - these will not so appropriate and your comment may not be approved.
- Use your own research before commenting in one blog.
- Keep it in mind that your comment should be useful for the blogger, readers and for the webmaster somehow.
- Try to give some useful tips on that particular topic.
- Don't use unnecessary keywords in between your blog comment.
- You can use some comment like "I have tweeted your article" / "have bookmarked in stumbleupon" - these can increase the possibility of getting quick approval.

add as much value as possible, add something not said in the post and initiate conversation.
Show that you have read the post carefully and have your own take on the subject.
Blog post authors like to see people engaged and truly interested in their stuff. I often get

Here's some more tips for blog commenting. Forgive me if one or two have already been mentioned... I'm on a roll!

Like the song says "Ain't nothin' like the real thing, baby!"' Nothing beats manual and relevant blog commenting... for all those

other times, here's some of my Scrapebox (SB) organic and natural posting tips.

For manual blogging:
* Read the article, or (to even save time) at least "quote" a phrase from of one of the last paragraphs of the blog. It shows the writer that you at least probably read their blog to the end.
* Make relevant comments on relevant websites.
* Connect on a personal level. Use the writer's name in your comment... but don't brown nose them with flattery.
* Use the "title of the article" somewhere in your comments, it restates the main theme of the article.
* Reply to first commenter OR one of the commenter that just posted before you.
* NEVER use the spam words "blog" or "post" in your comments. Instead, use the words "piece" or "article".
* Don't use any IM, blogging or technically oriented Internet terms in your comments... ever!
* (At the word level) spin a quick question that ends up like saying "can I get an amen to that?" or "who agrees with me on this?". Place it somewhere in the middle of your comment to cause the reader to temporarily break their train of thought....
never place a question at the end of a comment.
* Don't get distracted by a thought provoking topic. Keep your eye on your goal - your personal extended ranting and verbose verbal diatribes can be done at another time.
* SB is a nice tool and can do the hard work (harvesting, ranking and removing duplicates), so on those really high PR sites, USE THE MANUAL POSTER setting.

For auto blogging:
* If you do spin comments... just don't spin at the "word" level, mix in a few spun two-and-three-word-phases. Proofread your spun content t-h-o-r-o-g-h-l-y.
* Make sure all the comments that you spin are as clear as any un-spun comment that you would normally write out longhand.

For both manual and auto blogging:
* NEVER use a "male" name when posting, unless the blog is UBER-dude related (ie: jock itch blogs, if there are any). Female names get approved more, regardless of the sex of the writer.
* Avoid creating and spinning emails using @hotmail.com, @gmail.com, @msn.com addresses. If legally/ethically permissable, use a national or internationally known company. Nothing says "spam email address" like a "free email address".
* In SB, If you spin the the name, relate it to YOUR keywords (dog training gal, dog training blonde, dog training Saggitarius). Also notice how the descriptive term in the pevious names (gal, blonde, Saggitarius) still add to their uniqueness?
* "Engage" the topic... ask a quick question (or a targeted topical question if manual blogging). Don't forget to place a ? at the end of your question.
* Use a pair of "quotes" or dots (etc,...) or even a ; ) and other punctuations to appear more natural. Add some parenthesis "()" at least once.
* One or two (slightly) mispelled words look more organic. Even mispel a word by leaving out a vowel or by adding 2 letters togetherr.
* Use some texting vocabulary. Things like "g33k" "lol" and "BTW" may seem lame, but everyone knows what they mean... and real lame individuals still use them every day.
* Spammers don't use dirty words (and you shouldn't either), yet words like SSDD, cr@p, d*ck and sheet are usually appropriate and add to your uniqueness.
* I run some campaigns that sometimes necessitate using one-sentence comments, yet still using possibly "quotes" and "..." and a spun texting cliche (lol, btw, fyi), but I mainly try to create 3-to-4-sentence comments. Please note - having way too many sentences will cut into your manual-posting routine.
* Use a voice-recognition program like Dragon Naturally Speaking or similar programs already supplied by your commputer's operating system. I use the Windows 7 VR program that came with my computer... and I can easily "blogspeak" 150 WPM. Makes short work of bloging manually.

And if you've noticed, most spammers don't use most of these simple tips listed above when spinning (or even when blogging manually).

Case in point:
* Have you ever seen a spammed comment with a misspelled word? Rarely... yet only when english is not their official language.
* Have you ever seen spam with acronyms like lol, btw or ssdd? Not really. Add one to spice up your uniqueness.
* Have you seen spammed comments use quotes or capitalize certain words for EMPHASIS? Not usually.
* Did you ever see a spam comment using a cliche like "That really chaps my hide" or "hasta lavista"? Hardly. Use one from time to time. Bonus points for foreign cliche's in your english comments like "faux pas", "nyet", "numero uno" or anything that can uniquely fit into the context of your comment.

Bottom line... you want to set your comments apart from all the spammed cr@p out there... you can mentally have there "tips" in your arsenal when applying your commenting - manually or otherwise! And remember that automated tools are just that... "tools". Use your automated powers for good, and not evil.

Writing comments (auto or manually) reminds me of the old joke that "Marriage is built on honesty"... and when you can "fake" that... you'll be OK!

Try to be different and add such comments that add the quality to the discussion. One must post at-least 3-4 sentences.

Now everyone changed the follow tag because everyone know the importance of do-follow tags in blog

DO NOT use keyword while blog commenting ever. Chances are very low on getting approval when you do the commenting with keyword in the name section. Use a human name for higher approval ratio.

You are definitely right about spammers just blast away on comments leaving redundant comments thare are not even related to the topic being discussed on the blog. I just recently saw a blog with page rank one and it has an out of bound of more than 900. The spammer didn't even write any comments but simply left 900+ links in one post using the same exact anchor text. I wouldn't be surprise the owner of the blog will take down the comment section when he/she sees the spam that were left behind.

Most blog comment services use auto approved blogs but it is also a good idea to use moderated blog because these types of links tend to stick longer. As for using keywords on the username/name section, the idea behind this is that you want to use your target keywords on the name section because that is what the search engine bot will see and that is the keyprhase you want your website rank on.

Is there a way to see what backlinks you have to your site?

I've been commenting on blogs for a while now and I go back to check to see if they are approved. When they are then how do I see the backlink? I've checked Alexa which only shows a couple. Is there another way to see them?

1. blog should be having good domain & page authority
2. blog should be authentic and relevant to keyword
3. blog should be having quality content.

I hate the automated tools that people are using now a days. Wouldn't you rather manually comment on relevant sites with high pr and get approved than some crap no pr sites with thousand of other OBL's and get hit by an askimet spam filter and then have everything be for naught.

The relevancy of the blog comment is of utmost importance here. I was looking at a study that was showing many of a website's links devalued because most of the blog comment links were linking to spammy, nonrelated blogs.

As a tip, don't just post comment just for the sake of putting a link. Your blog comment should have value and related to the topic.

Your all tips are pretty good but relevancy play vital role in blog commenting.

No doubt, you have said pretty well bullets though, making as long comment as you have said, it would be better to build a stand-alone blog post and publish it.

How ironic! This thread on Best Tips for Commenting has 60 comments, and most of them do not follow the recommendations of what you should do when commenting! Most are 'Thank you' or 'Wonderful tips' or they repeat the same information someone else had already posted.

As long as you post your comments manually, on Blogs with good Page Ranks which are related to your niche (keyword), you can say that they add some value to your website. Also, it is important to post comments in such a manner that Google will consider it natural. (About 10 comments per day)

My first tip would be to use a gravatar. Seriously use it. It shows you as a person and not a unnamed bot. Apart from that first find the top sites in your niche and visit them. Then go to the links that other people have left links too and you will find a decent enough relevant list to comment upon.

Using an avatar can indeed significantly increase your chance of approval, and replying to another comment is another neat trick I frequently use.

Good advice there, onlinemegastore! There are people out there that have bad vibes with those spinners just because they're being used by people in the wrong way. Having said that, it's not the software that creates the fault. It's just a tool. You wouldn't blame a drill for making a hole, right? You'd blame whoever held the drill because he or she didn't handle things well. It's the person who does the spamming. I still thank Danny Cutts for that awesome post back then.
