I've submitted my site to bing since march 31st but till date has not been indexed. I've also submitted a sitemap generate by freesitemapgenerator.com which is known to be bing friendly but still no sign as yet.

Whereas google webmaster tools indexed all my 60 wordpress pages within 24 hrs after submitting sitemap.

I've contacted support team but saying they are still analyzing the problem. I'm lost. Help please!

My experience is that Bing is like Windows : slow and incomplete

But seriously, I also noticed that it takes Bing months to index a site and then takes about 20% of all pages, while Google in no time indexes the whole site...

I think that's one of the main reasons Bing is rarely used too

Hi Ross thanks for your quick response. Thanks Asher, wvdploeg and sitemapper. I will take your suggestions to consideration.

One thing I'm still wondering why google webmaster tools has not shown any backlinks to my site. Even backlinkwatch hasn't shown any sign of backlinks.

Lately I've submitted more than 14 posts (with links back to my posts) to 27 social and bookmarking sites. Also posted to few forums and blogs which are absolutely do follow links and which are related to my niche.

      Where do i go wrong?

Yeah, as Ross stated, just keep adding good content
    and backlinks to your site.

You might want to check if you have done any settings
in your robots.txt or .htaccess file to deny the bots.

If you didn't touch any of those, you can go to
pingomatic.com or any other ping services and do a
    quick ping for your website.

Try to get backlinks from already bing indexed sites or re-submit your sitemap into bing webmaster tools.

Bing has a slower crawling rate, probably you will get indexed in months later.
But if you use their webmaster central, it would be a different story.

Yes I joined bing webmastertools in February, 2012. At first I submit a sitemap generated by freesitemapgenerator.com and later resubmitted 4 sitemaps i.e in 31-03-2012 generated by wp seo plugin by yoast. 1 sitemap for tag, 1 for post, 1 for page and 1 for categories.

Once you login to the bing webmasters go to -> Index and then submit URLs. Now start by submitting the top 10 urls of your website where you are getting traffic from Google, and then the next 10 . Complete the set of 50 URLs in the same. You will slowly start getting indexed in the same.

Well I don't see any submit urls within index. And I don't find any place to submit urls except sitemap submision. All I see is - Index Summary, Index Explorer, Block URLs, Inbound Links, Deep Links and URL Normalization .

Why you are going for search engines like Bing when you have search engine like Google. Google will only give you more traffic than any other search engines.

Maybe you are right steven. Well I'm simply desperate right now. My site was launch on december, 2011 and yet having just a humble 28 visitors per day. And that too with an overall bounced rate of 45% to 50%. You can have a look at my site: recipes.net16.net.

However till now I haven't done any article or video submission. Presently I'm using onlywire for bookmarking and wp seo plugin by yoast for keyword optimization.

  • Don't worry. Just continue building good backlinks and always add new and fresh content.

Also, whenever you add pages/posts, make sure that you ping them and also submit to good and high PR bookmarking sites.

    Good luck!
