Will You Engage In Negative Seo?

I am doing SEO of my own sites, so no chance that I take a risk of negative SEO.

  No. But I think it would be interesting to try to manipulate the search results in a way that all the top results are junk sites. That way G would have to address it then. Of course this would have to be on a very large scale, 1000's of different search terms, and it would never happen.

I have never even considered it and those that do are not playing fair - imagine if someone took out Negative SEO against your site.

I don't really see it as any kind of ethical problem here. Whether I work on my own site and top him or just blast him with ****ty links and top him - I'm taking it out of his bottom line anyway.

I'm not saying that the ends justify the means - but if you'd feel bad about knocking him down then why are you building content and backlinks to your own site - it's going to have the same end results.

The only difference is it's going to be more of an investment on your part rather than running SB etc...

I believe in ethical marketing. I don't sell things I don't believe in and I don't lie or cheat to make a sale. But when it comes to ranking higher in the SERPS I'd use any opening Google allows.

Now personally I haven't done it but it's because I'm still testing to see what's possible on my own domains. I don't want him springing back stronger than before - it's certainly not for any ethical reasons.

I see the combination of negative seo and overoptimized link profiles really creating exponential results to a site that gets attacked

It doesnt seem to far-fetched to send a few thousand exact match links at a site and bury it beyond recovery, especially a new site.

Lol I dont believe that everyone here is saying no. I wouldnt do it to hit a competitor out of top spot but I have done it when I have been scammed. I purcahsed some items and paid through western union and the seller stopped replying as soon as he received payment. I emailed him several times but no response. I then email him saying I would attack his site if he dosent send my goods. He replied saying give it my best shot. I sent a 500k scrapebox blast to his site all with same anchor "scammer" and his website url. One week later he is nowhere to be seen in the serps. He still hasnt replied to my emails after the loss in rankings. Some people never learn.

I wouldn't do it myself. I probably wouldn't be able to sleep.

But I would completely understand if others were doing it. Even if they were only doing it for the "greater good" to prove a point to Google.

Some people do a lot worse than negative SEO to get ahead in business.

Hell yes! I have to say that I agree with monopolyman here--if you spend hundreds of dollars to SEO your site, or send garbage links to your competitor, the end goal is to kick their ass in the serps so you can make more money. Do you think he's going to be any less pissed ic your ' good SEO to your site caused you to beat him than if your 'bad' SEO on his site beat him? And do you think your competitors have any qualms about doing it to your site? If being politically correct is more important than your business succeeding, maybe this isn't for you. And it's all just a new twist to SEO. Everyone is going to be doing it until google changes the algorithm again, and then we'll do something else. I'd be surprised if I didn't see some wsos on how to kill your competitors sites with backlinks to their site. I'm sure some enterprising warriors are working on it as we speak.
