Its seems to me that this question already been answered many times in this forum. Anyway, you can build good amount of backlink with original content on article sites and web2.0.

Everyone knows this content is king and you can use content for article submissions but best thing is use it in your site only.

How about also getting some Press Release backlinks - will add a great deal to your link diversity and hence, credibility in the minds of Google
