WARNING: DONT BE DUMB

Dont be an idiot like me.

I got an email message from google saying they noticed I had un-natural backlinks going to one of my sites and so they de-indexed the whole thing. There are many others out there experiencing the same thing at the moment.

I got most of my backlinks from fiverr and from the wso area. I doubt most of the wso packages I purchased would have gotten me into trouble seeing as they where to be embedded within blogs and articles and what not. But seriously be careful.

The only thing im pissed about is the fact that google dont even tell me specifics. They have done similar stuff for a long time. Its like how do you want me to fix what im apparently doing wrong if you dont tell me what it is im doing wrong.

Its like a cop giving you a ticket for 'breaking the law' but then not telling you what law you broke and what you should have avoided.

They did the same thing to me with my adwords account...

Be very careful.
This could literally ruin your business. Lucky for me this was just a hobby blog.

Thanks.

p.s. Google can go climb a tree

Adsense/PPC/SEO Discussion Forum would be a great place for this.

There are plenty of threads there too where they are wondering/whining/wildly gesticulating about the same things. It's a bundle of fun down there .
  • I don't know why people get so caught up in the xrumer/scrapebox mega backlinks crap.

    Making money online is simple:

    1. Develop a sweet product
    2. Make a sweet landing page
    3. Work EVERY DAY to drive REAL PEOPLE to your site, primarily through social media
    4. PROFIT!

Um, because humans invariably take what they think is the easy way out?

Until the SEO (and WF) culture changes, Fiverr backlink gigs will still sell like MegaMillions lottery tickets.

    • With 2 posts you can't boycott Google, run your PPC campaigns against Google on adwords.

      @OP: sad to hear that.
  • LOL...

This "I hate Google" VERSUS "Loser, cause you used paid backlinks" still going on?

@Andrei, two words for you, and I know you won't take this personally, cause it's just part of the game: **** happens.

@Joe, I assume you (repeatedly) never made a bunch of money in 2 months using paid backlinks - but listen, not everyone else has to be like you. Fair enough?

Now, for all the hatters, again, my words for you:

When big companies, small companies, private webmasters, pro's and rookies use PAID backlinks to gain rankings in Google over your site, you have two options:

1 - Make peanuts and go happy with it, waiting for a Google miracle.
2 - Buy a better "formula", make huge amounts of money, go happy for 2-3 months, and then get angry for 2-3 weeks.

    Fair? Not really.
There are exceptions? You can bet on that. You know them, I know them.
Will it end? Don't know, don't care. My business is NOT based on rankings.

Note: Google allows this to happen: the paid links and the angry mobs.

And for those STILL saying this last update "cleaned" the rankings out of "evil" guys... you really need a reality check outside your comfort zone. 8 out of 10 niches I check everyday have more of the same - just different sites.

Personally, I see more deep problems with Google right now - and you can bet slaps is NOT one of them. Their overall attitude towards IM'ers, affiliates, small biz's is what makes me re-think a lot about this business.

Anyway, just wishing you all a nice week. With Google, without Google, etc etc. Take care.

  • I wouldn't touch backlinks from Fiverr or the WSO with a 10 foot pole even if they were free. I recommend you stay far away from that kind of stuff.

    • Remember the golden rule , "He who has the gold, Makes the rules". Use other means than relying on "GOOGLE" Don,t put all your eggs in one basket .

They see themselves as the self appointed police of the internet ,Avoid their jurisdiction.

    • Quoted for friggin truth.

You bought manipulative links from fiverr and WSOs and you're pissed at Google? What do you want them to tell you? You ALREADY know what links have triggered the message. You ALREADY admitted what you did wrong.
  • WoW, another reason to get out of Google's seo Game.

Sucks dude. Luckily it was just a lil blog, but still sucks!

Im going into PPC/PPV as soon as I have spare cash to do some heavy testing this year.

I have started to get sick of Google.

If Google gave you exact details for why they sent you a negative message about links, every person on earth would be milking the SERPs for all it has to offer, guaranteed.

People test Google non-stop to see what they can get away with, that's part of SEO (testing). The differance between testing the SERPs & Google handing you the answer on a silver platter is, not everyone will figure out what's needed to rank a page in the SERPs on their own (supply & demand (Google it)).

A lot of people in SEO have sites setup to push Google to the limits, If Google told everyone what they are doing wrong/right, well, what's in it for Google? The answer is nothing.

Anyone that takes the SERPs personal, should leave SEO ASAP, find another source of traffic.

Anyone that hasn't already diversified their traffic, well that's your own fault, deal with it or give up on IM.

  • Hello,

The logic from the original post is: I did 2 types of back linking. Fiverr and WSO. WSOs could not have caused me problems so it must have been fiverr. I understand the logic, but the big G is not always logical. Case in point. Look at the serps for many popular KWs. The top results are absolutely baffling. Was the latest Algo really to make the user experience better? and if so, is it better?

I have several sites that got slammed by the algo update, almost as many shot up the rankings. And guess what? For these sites I used Fiverr gigs exclusively!

Over the last few months, I tested several gigs. I put the ones that I thought were good on a list. Every new site that I turned up, I used the same gigs on that list. Some got crushed, others went up? Is it really Fiverr? Or something else?

I don't know the answer, but from my own experience I come up with one thing. Create your site and drive traffic to it as if Google did not exist! If G loves my site, then great, I will get that much traffic. But to count solely on G is a disaster waiting to happen. There are many that will argue with me on this point. their arguments will probably valid too.

But if we don't rely solely on those coveted 10 places on page 1, and we learn to drive traffic in other ways...... Look around this amazing forum. SEO is not the only way to drive traffic......

For all that watched Braveheart I can only think of one word " Frreeeeedoooooom"

  • Interesting indeed, sorry to hear that happened to you. No wonder people are now suggesting to simply eliminate Google webmaster tools and analytics from your sites. Google will snoop around your site and say that you have unnatural links pointing to you but this may all be a master plan to get you to reveal the links you have been using.

This is what happened to people and they ended up revealing BMR and there goes BMR out of business. Really incredible indeed that Google was able to pull this off. There are so many theories and opinions that it can really drive you crazy.

One thing is for sure, if you don't have to give Google a way to snoop around your site then simply don't do it.

When you think about it, why do they give you access to all these powerful free tools?

What do you think is the catch?

    Exactly...

  • everybody is buying links... especially if we make clear that leads are the same links or thinking about adwords

don't worry - the policy of Google is that they will remove the ban on your website after 30 days and you will start climbing back to the place where you were few days ago.

but you can say goodbye to your adsense account.

  • I'm more irritated by the terrible results I've got from WSOs than I'm from Fiverr. Fiverr you expect to be garbage. It's $5. But these WSOs have pages of glowing reviews and I've spent a lot of money on them. I'm still getting links from some of them now.. that I'm pretty sure are doing me more harm than good. Very frustrating in a way. But I have learned my lesson: Good reviews on an WSO are absolutely meaningless.
