Had great success with PPC over the last few days using a SEM tool. Found 925 keywords in the highly competitive 'weight loss' and 'make money at home niche' was getting clicks for $0.05.

In total I spent around $120.00 on PPC and had a return of $x,xxx.xx even though my click-to-purchase ratio was lower than 10% for the most part.

I would like to thank everyone on the warrior forum! I have lurked here for many years and just now registered as I am finally proud of my achievements. I have been in IM for years and have made a career of it; though it has finally all came together with this push.

From 5/2-5/6 I added 1,168 subscribers to my list via landing pages, and had 224 sales at $47.00 average. This is obviously before refunds, etc. Though the beauty part is that all of these products are recurring, I hope I get a good run off the follow up commissions.

So here is my advice to those in PPC if you are not using a landing page to qualify, prep, and squeeze your clicks you are losing money. When someone clicks your ad they are expressing their intent to inquire about the product. Use this to your benefit by hyping and squeezing - they will gladly swap an email for an opportunity to see the product that your hyping so hard.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend, I certainly did; took my better half to six flags.

Best Wishes,

-Jason

It's proprietary; but don't fret I am not selling it. You can use a few tools to generate the same results my tool does; though one thing I found that set this campaign apart from any other I ran is that I used a ton of misspelled keywords.

When I first was doing my research for KW's I was at about $0.89 a click and that would have ate my budget up quickly, though even at full price I would have seen profit just not to the extreme I saw it using misspelled KWs. So in short I changed a few filters in my KW tool and generated a little over 900 5 cent keywords.

      Hope this helps you!

        Ok, post the percentages.

I find it interesting that you built the list so quickly & also had a 19.18% conversion rate on email subscribers.

Did you immediately try to sell the product after the PPC traffic confirmed the email subscription to the list?

I think you're missing my actual strategy which is understandable because I did not volunteer it. My campaign differed from every other campaign I have done in one major way, in terms of the list.

          Click -> Lander -> Choice

Once the user get's to the choice he or she can:
          A) Sign-Up for the mailing list.
          B) Proceed directly to the product.

So not everyone signed up for the mailing list. On top of that those who did not subscribe sometimes did not buy the product I was promoting (obviously). Now on the other hand some people did subscribe and out of those not all of them purchased.

So when I initially posted I said most campaigns were under 10% conversion; so your 19% is flawed; however, you thought that only my purchases came from subscribers and I can see the misunderstanding.
So in short I do not force people to sign up to my list to see the product that would be a waste of advertising dollars. I use something like this:

"Now you have a choice to make, you can provide your contact information in the box below, or you can be sent directly to xxxxxxx. Either way you will be on your way to success; However you will not have the backing of an established marketing company behind you. We will not send you affiliate offer after offer, we will send you solid industry proven advice at no charge! Keep in mind we got you to our page, right? We know how to get customers and again we will share this knowledge at no cost. You will never see this offer again, choose wisely."

As you can see the user gets a choice of which branch to take, I would never force a sign up to a list before the offer was given. Also the beauty part is when the user signs up to the list I dump them over to the affiliate offer as the thank you page. (Don't want to cool down a hot buyer)

So I had 925 keywords between 7 campaigns; I received 2,263 clicks and made 224 sales. So as you can see it is below 10% across all 7 campaigns; however I had two campaigns that were around 16% in terms of clicks to sales.

Out of the subscribers; 831 came from AdCenter and 337 from AdCenter; this number is slightly skewed because I did not have different forms for the two until I realized I needed to track this. So AdWords could have been higher, I won't know until next case study.

Hope this satisfies your query. If not please feel free to post any other questions you may have; I am more than happy to help the people (warrior collective) who helped me.

          -Jason

          Edit:

And before you ask I received a great opt-in rate due to the awesome perks I was offering the reader. I would share these details but at this point I rather use them a bit longer myself.

    Mike,

I honestly think that staying out of the spotlight helped me achieve what I have to this point. All of the warriors have posted useful information that I have assimilated over the years. I thought it was time to let people know that the information on this forum works. The great part is that the majority of information obtained was posted for free in post just like this one.

Before I go I just want to say that I really have a swell of pride built up. I never dreamed of making nearly $10,000 in four days. The ironic part of the whole thing is that I built these PPC campaigns as a case study to demonstrate you can make a decent living at PPC if you apply the effort. This was an attempt to bring traffic to my new blog and get subscribers to my list; I never even dreamed the campaigns would preform so well. I gave the exact swap of ad copy and keywords to everyone on my list, hope they will find the value that I did.

Anyhow one more thank you to all you warriors, and for your kind words Mike. Have a good one!

    -Jason

To answer the top questions I have been getting in PMs.

How do you exactly promote an affiliate offer while building your list?

I offer the user (client who clicked the ad) a bonus in addition to the product they want to buy. This is not PLR it is simply stating the perks of being on my mailing list. I then provide an affiliate link directly to the product if they choose not to subscribe or a aweber form if they do; and if they do subscribe I redirect the thank you page to the affiliate offer.

What recurring products would it be good to promote?

Well since this was a case study I don't know how many will stay subscribed. I will get back to this question in more detail in the next 30 days.

Any samples would be greatly appreciated (landing pages and products with recurring commissions).

I would be more than happy to provide samples but I rather keep my URLs off of the forum. No offense guys but I like my traffic to come from sources that I have been targeting. So you can PM me your e-mail and I will send you a link to my best converting lander.

Also be sure to ask your questions on this thread so the entire community can benefit from the answers.

    Thanks,

    -Jason

I use what I like to call bottom feeder keywords. They are minimum bid keywords for the related niche. So most people pick high volume keywords and only a couple of them directly related to their niche or product they are selling; there is nothing wrong with this if your willing to pay the premium. However I like to use at least 400 keywords a campaign that receive a low volume then this is exponential, you can have 1 keyword that gets let's say 1000 impressions a day or 10 keywords that get 100, it all ads up to the same.

I believe I am going to start a warrior for hire thread and provide research for warriors on keywords, if you are struggling like you say I would be honored to provide you a review copy. Just send me a PM and I would be more than happy to help you.

If you are not interested in that just use your keyword tools and try to drill down to related but relatively under trafficked keywords. I identified a keyword in the 'make money at home' niche and it has been the difference in my campaigns.

Anyhow any other questions feel free to ask!

    Edit:

Might be worth stating that my 925 keywords mentioned over 7 campaigns do not include duplicate keywords shared between all campaigns.

        ezeway et al;

I have had my inbox blown up by request for these converting strategies. Was thinking about packaging them up and releasing them as a WSO. With that said I have made a few tweaks to my campaign strategy and increased opt-ins to a new level.

I think by now everyone knows my strategy; if you pay for a lead (click) then YOU need to squeeze it. My newly developed code allows to squeeze, qualify, and sell all in the same visit. This is epic and I am sure everyone will agree.

Anyhow the landers convert, the new system doubles it. I will be starting a new thread with more details.

Apologies for any grammar mistakes in a hurry this morning! Got my last day of franchise owner training, all paid for by IM; thanks again WF.

My single biggest problem (probably true for many others) with PPC is landing page quality. I just can't make head or tail of what the (/&(/& they want, so I pretty much gave up trying. I do fine with SEO, I am really not sure I need PPC, but still, if you have any tips on quality score they would be very welcome.

My landing pages are simple text only blog pages, seriously. Though I have built a new system that converts much better and it is using very professional landers. Though for the case study it was just a decent looking free template and a compelling hook.

I target words directly related to what I am promoting. Full product names, authors, etc.. I would never use a term like 'make money at home' because that would empty the bank.

I generally have around 2,000+ KWs per product I am promoting. I use the cheap keywords nothing over 5 cents or so. Also the Subway venture was one of my best plays yet, employed several folks and it generates a solid revenue. At this point my second shop is being built out.

EDIT: To clarify the keywords; You will not always find thousands of Keywords for your product that are cheap, in the case of this study if you read the initial post I found 900 or so for weight loss that were dirt cheap.

The best way to do keywords is think in exponents, 900 KWs at 10 clicks a day = 9000 clicks a day. As opposed to one keyword at 9000 clicks a day. When I was in sales training the guy there said something that stuck, literally. "if you throw enough shit against the wall some of it will stick."

I use the most relevant ad copy. I do not lie or down play a product such as "XXXXX is a SCAM!!" Make sure you are clear what product your ad leads to in your copy, otherwise you will get curious folks and not buyers.

Exclusively at the time of the initial post. Edit: Also PPC and CPA is really a dead end unless you have deep pockets. Look into PPV.

I follow their rules to a T, however, that can not tell you what page your page links to, for example AdWords redirects to lander(my server), I squeeze the hit, then pass the hit to the product.

Yes, in short. Best practice is to look at what everyone else is doing, the days of direct linking CB to profit are over. Google will most certainly allow you to advertise a lander that leads to a product, think of all of those landers that lead to Netflix and the million pother CPA offers.

It sounds like something was a bit 'devious' with your campaigns to get a ban. AdWords bans are less likely that AdSense bans because of the way the money flows in as opposed to out.

      Anyhow best of luck.

Great thread MHelix. So many have tried to say PPC is dead. Far from it. Glad to see someone showing some success with it. And congrats on the franchises.

As far as the banned accounts go he's right. Most likely you got 3 strikes on compliance. The trick is to cloak those affiliate links. If you are showing off your links it's not a good thing. Normally I'll use go codes or something like that. http://www.yourdomain.com/go/nameofoffer. If it's in doubt with Google they will kick it out.

    Good stuff and congrats!

One word of warning though, be careful with using straight squeeze pages. I've seen MANY clients get their AdWords accounts banned for sending traffic to a squeeze page. It even happened to me once and it took a solid month of calling and emailing to finally get a sympathetic ear at Google to re-activate my account, only after I'd dropped the squeeze pages and set up a landing page with full navigation and more robust content.

I have ran about a small fortune through PPC and have no issues. Just be sure your lander fully describes the offer, and, the PURPOSE of your mailing list.

No issues with AdWords at all, then again I do not pull any shenanigans, people know what they are getting when they utilize my links.

Sweet, PPC is far from dead; that's for damn sure. Once you hit four figure days let me know and we can mash-up some campaigns. My ad spend these days is almost as much as the WSO sellers claim they make in a year.. haha!

With that said I am always available to answer warrior questions and swap ideas.

Just keep in mind I only check the forums once or twice a week. So don't be upset if you don't hear from me in a few days.
