Whitehat: Outlandish Viral Site -- Contact Bloggers?

I have an outlandish site that I feel has quite a viral, controversial effect. Sadly I got hit by Penguin and it tanked a bit.

But I feel bloggers would talk about it...

I was wondering -- what are some tactics ? Should I just contact them? Are there any products that I could grab that would suggest how to do this?

I did a press release years ago that had some good success.. and another one that had mediocre success.. at best.

But this time -- I think I am just going to start contacting people.. but I wish I knew someone with experience who knew exactly what to say -- perhaps suggest guest posting? Or simply ask for them to write about me?

I've found that "Green" or "treehugger" bloggers are the most eager to accept content (whether articles, infographics, etc). Find a way to create a piece of content that relates both to your niche and a green topic or idea.

But before doing anything, I'd first fix the issues that caused the site to be affected by Penguin in the first place. Adding new links might not do anything. It'd be like putting band-aid on a cut that should be stitched up.
