Target blank attribute still passes link juice?

Hey guys,

Just wanted to check something, if I have an internal link from one page linking to another page and I use the target="_blank" html code, will it still pass all the link juice? I know that nofollow specifically doesn't but was just wondering if this did anything similar (besides making a new tab/page open) SEO wise.

Thanks

Yes. I don't think _blank has any SEO implication.. but an experiment on this would be great.

Thanks for the reply. Another reason why I am asking is because I want to keep people on the page they land on (from Google for e.g.) for as long as possible. Surely if they open an internally linked page and it opens in a new window, it wont register as a bounce until they close the initial page?

If your doing a target="_blank" on internal links that's a bad user experience IMO.

One of my sites gets an average of 7 page views per unique traffic, If I used a target="_blank" on each internal page, that one person would have 7 pages open for a single site, that would piss me off If I landed on a site like that (I would leave).

I only use target="_blank" on external links, that way my pages are still open in the traffics browser, they might come back & continue browsing my site/pages a 2nd time.
