Backlinks for a Squidoo lens

Hi all,

I was a little surprised to see one of my Squidoo lenses ranked so high the other day. This isn't a lens that points to my money site but is just a lens on a topic I felt like writing about. Right now I sit at the bottom of page #1 without any backlinks and would like to see if I can get it ranked a bit higher.

I'm just wondering what the best strategy is for lenses? Most people say avoid crappy links to your money site but does the same apply to lenses? Will high PR comments help the lens out?

Just curious if anyone has any insight.

Thanks.

If you've already hit page one then chances are the competition is pretty weak. (Though I'd still suggest looking @ the top 3, which is where you want to be.) I doubt it's going to take much to rank.

Just don't blast away with automated tools and you should be fine. Sites like Squidoo, Hubpages, etc, can be unpredictable and shut down your lens for nearly any reason. So it's best to not give them a reason unless you don't mind living on the edge.

Thanks and yes very weak competition. So I guess I should avoid anything too spammy.

I don't backlink my lenses at all, ever, and they do great. There are 2 keys to this 1) low competition OR 2) age.

Many of my squidoo friends do backlink their lenses a lot with comments and other web 2.0 sites. I don't think they do better than I do, or at least not much better. None of them are hurting their lenses though.

or....you can take advantage of the authority ranking by putting one link to your money site, using links plexo module...Yes, Squidoo is unpredictable but its been regarded as an authority site.

In recent google penguin update the Google engineer mattcutts created one video about the search engine ranking. As per their suggestion google rank website by looking to the content of the website. It should be unique and relevant to the users. Before doing anything just check your lens again and check the keyword density. Your lence article should have the targeted keyword distributed equally in each paragraph. Post minimum 500-1000 word content in the lence or update it with new content. This will help you to increase your rank dramatically.
