  • there was some skuttlebutt about google being "concerned" about sites that get to many quality links in too short of time.

I dont think there were any case studies that have confirmed this suspicion.

  • I mean I wont just add high PR links. I havnt got much time at the moment so thats all im doing. I will do different links soon but im just concerned about the results.
  • It's always been the case that a new batch of links would make your position in the SERPs fluctuate for a while before settling again - sometimes they never settle, necessarily, reflecting the fluidity of the whole SEO game. Too early to fret that it might be some post-penguin fallout. For a lot of folks this is a new dawn and I'm sure eagle-eyes are watching intensely for any kind of reactions at the moment.
  • whats you domain age and pr of your site? if you site have pr 0 and you have got backlink from pr6 site. then it looks to google suspicious.
  • 18 month old domain PR1
  • There are so many factors coming into play - and so many unknowns that it's difficult to tell what may have (or may not have) gone wrong.

Were the HPBLs from a network that has been penalized recently (or are on Google's radar?).

Did the sudden increase in link velocity make Google drop you for a while to come back and re-evaluate your SERPs at some future date?

Did you overdo the apparently new anchor text threshold?

Are the HPBLs relevant to your niche?

You've just gotta watch like a hawk and test - read, learn and inwardly digest.

  • Nothing to be concerned about....Most sites when employing this type of linkbuilding see fluctuations. It's part of the game, commonly referred to as the Google dance.

Keep in mind that you have low PR, and high PR homepage links are very powerful. You'll see some bouncing around, and as your links age a bit you'll see your rankings increase and stabilize.

    • 2nd that, whenever you do some high quality link building, you can expect a bit of bouncing... I wouldn't worry about it!
  • it may be due to new algorithm change and your website may be over optimised.

  • There are case studies, of sites with unnatural backlink profiles in particularly high authority links and sites with natural linking patterns. Provided by How To Survive Google's Unnatural Links Warnings & Avoid Over-optimisation | SEOmoz

There are two words that mainly come to mind when thinking about the Google updates; pagerank manipulation

The site with the blue line has got higher pagerank backlinks and more of them.
  • always go for quality links not for quantity.
  • What type of high PR homepage links were these?
  • Hello!

You should post more links with interesting contents. This way, you will always have users checking them out and if you experience a little fluctuations, there's nothing to worry about it's all part of the business. Every quality link building often experience bouncing effect.

    Best of Luck!
