Blog commenting post panda

Just wondering if you guys still think its effective? I've seen huge jumps in my serps (from page 4-8) to pages 1,2 for all my keywords. I don't want to jeopardize what I built for a few links. My site is 2 and a half months old. I initially used blog commenting to build links (sporadically, certainly not the basis of my marketing plan). Some of my most powerful links has come from a blog comment (according to ahref). I have not been blog commenting since all these Google updates. As you can see, i'm a bit hesitant to resume that. Do you think I am being overly cautious? I always take the time to write a good, meaningful responses to whatever blog i'm commenting on. Thanks, look forward to hearing everyones thoughts.

    I would just not overdo it that's all, if they are good quality keep them few and far between, on topic if possible and targeting your inner pages with http:// style links, then link out from the pages using internal linking and recycle the pagerank to more important pages. Also mix a nice natural flow of low PR quality written articles and bookmarks and guest posts. Remember this update is targeting aggressive seo...

    Perhaps if they're dofollow?

    I have thought for a while that dofollow blog commenting is still beneficial in moderation. Do not go out spamming your links all over the internet; just do a natural amount.

    Also if they're dofollow, that should give your link more authority than the other comments on the page.... You all at WF know how to make your blog comments dofollow on a nofollow, blog, right?

    I dont think only Do follow blog commenting would do. You have to mix the do follow and no follow links to make it appear more natural to the search engine, Since the Panda and Penguin are very tough with the SEO. You have to more careful when you are recovering your position in search results.

    Definitely. Just don't go the automated route and blast poorly spun comments to thousands of blogs.

    Quality over quantity. They don't need to be niche related blogs. A link is a link. Niche blogs DO help potentially drive traffic though.

    You should try using high PR blog comments and don't put up non-sense blog comments. It's important if you comment meaningful things on every blog. You could also try joining do follow and no follow links for a greater result. Just build more links and don't worry.

      Forums are better for generating targeted traffic. Backlinks? Not as much. But becoming an active member in a handful of high traffic, niche related forums is a great way to drive VERY targeted traffic to your website.

    Keep going your work.But care about where you are building links.Make a comments in niche blogs mixed with nofollow and dofollow,high PR and low PR.It should look like natural.

      Any blog page that you can find that has high PR (for the actual page not the root domain) only does me good when I get a dofollow blog comment.

      Another thing....I has a way to find many, many of these types of links. They are NEVER on blogs "related to my niche". I think that's one of those SEO myths. You can pretty much assume that if a page has High PR then it has high trust and authority as well. Getting a link from these pages is like taking a hypodermic needle and injecting your site with all of these important factors. Who cares if it's not related?

      Furthermore, what if there are simply not very many blogs related to your niche that have PR5 or PR6 dofollow pages where you can get links? If your site is about wall clocks or something, do you really think that getting a link from an interior design website with a homepage that ranks in at PR3 and interior pages (where you'll get your link from) top out at PR1 is going to help you more than getting a High PR link from a science or tech blog? Not in my experience. What's worse is that people believe this nonsense so much that they waste all their time looking to get links in places which don't exist (some niches are just not going to have enough dofollow blogs with High PR period) when they could be making accounts and dropping comments on a host of subjects and be getting their sites boosted with powerful link juice.

      Get the links to your site and then use your own internal link structure to reflavor/re-purpose that link juice to your own needs.

        I tend to agree that relevancy isn't as incredibly important as some make it out to be. At least, not in my experience.

        Now, I do like relevant blogs / links for the potential traffic they can generate. But I'd take a PR1 non-relevant link over a PR0 relevant link.

    I always hear that blog comments aren't good but then others see good results with it.

    What makes sense to me though is finding relevant blogs in your niche and post a helpful comment. As long as you don't use the xrumer tools to over do it, you should be fine.
