Has moving web hosts caused a drop in your rankings?

I am thinking about moving web hosts as the site I am tackling has got so many problems with it. It is not ranking properly and I am thinking one of the reasons is because there are of 14000 sites on the same ip address and some of them look VERY shady. In your experience does this make a difference and would dedicated hosting be the better option? I am just worried the site will drop rankings
