Exact match domain means domain using the exact keyword that you choose example: you choose "brown super dog" then the exact match domain are :
    www.brownsuperdog.com
    www.brownsuperdog.net
    www.brownsuperdog.org
Any domain extension that you want.

The domain having the exact same name as the people often use in the query search text. e.g. for the popular query "dog trainers", the dogtrainers.com will be the exact domain etc.

Keywords anywhere in a url can be useful
like dogs com / blue dogs
But strictly an exact match domain name has a complete search phrase all in the domain name, like
    www.bluedogs.com

Such domain names have proven to be until recently, power aids in getting ranked for that particular keyword. The newly added Google Penguin specifically targeting search rank manipulation tricks has been said to look for domain names that make better search terms than site titles.

DogTrainingGuide.com is a quite reasonable site title.

TrainingDogsWhisle.com would not be a likely site title and might be more likely to get a depreciated ranking weight.

While exact domain names don't seem to be all that evil or manipulative, ther have been a number of complaints by owners of higher quality ranked sites that get outranked by junky keyword domain sites, this added filtering effect might be viewed as more of a 'correction' of an unfair advantage.

so my example is ok - sounds like google does not like small one page sites that solely relied on EMD. the bottom line - i think - is aged domains will be hard to beat for a long time to come because they got there using over optimization and maybe questionable BL startegies in the past, which no longer can be used.

Why do you think google does not like small page sites?

If those small page sites have valuable reading content then google will love those sites.

      How do i know?

I have 35+ with page on rankings, with literally 1 or 2 pages on each site.

So do you think as long as your exact match domain correlates with the keyword and provides good content that's ok?

I see a lot of junky EMD sites that provide no content but also see a lot of EMD sites that provide great content.

That's good to hear for those of us with writer's block. Are your domains aged?

Hi, I started internet marketing back in 1998 using "Exact Match Domains" as my number one SEO strategy. I currently own a very large amount of exact match domains. As of today my rankings continue to improve. Just make sure your content is highly relevant to the keywords in your domain.
