What is the true value of No Follow links?

I have read from everywhere that do-follow links offer the best links for a website. But what about no-follow links? What is their value in link-building?

    At the very least they'll give you some link diversity and potentially drive traffic from the links themselves. There's usually a pretty hefty debate about the value of NoFollow links. I'm somewhat in the middle. I think they may have SOME sort of ranking value. But what it is? I don't know for sure.

      Absolutely correct. They also add diversity to you link patterns. These days, everything has to appear natural to Google. In normal circumstances, it would never come about that hundreds of website owners, all with do-follow links, just happen to link to you. In reality you would get a mix of both do-follow and no-follow.

      It's value in terms of page ranking is really unsure. But I agree that no follow links give diversity to one's link profile and potential traffic to a website.

    NoFollow links won't provide you backlinks, though they can promote traffic. And if you want to diversify your link profile, nofollows should be also considered in your link building.

    Think of it as some sort of "Shield" for your site.

    I keep my NoFollow link to around 50% of my overall links to be safe.

      50%...that's a big part of your link profile. So no follow links are important in the whole link-building process.

      Correct. Having 100% DoFollow backlinks is pretty obvious, considering most backlinks are NoFollow by default. 50/50 is probably a pretty good ratio. I personally wouldn't be afraid to make it a little higher though.

    I've ranked websites using strictly nofollow comments from scrapebox just fine

    Only Google knows the exact answer to your question. If it was still the early 2000s I'd tell you to focus on getting dofollow links but in this day in age just try to get good links and don't worry if they are nofollow or not.

    If you're spending a lot of time determining the value of a link then you're spending time in the wrong place.

    It will surely give a backlink but the link juice will not be passed. For eg. if that website has 4 PR then your website wont get any benefit out of it.
