How would you create a social buzz for a new concept/site in Travel niche?

Hi there,

I am working on a new site in the Travel niche, which is not based on SEO in the case of great volumes of search. It would however be complimentary to 99%+ of the travel sites out there, as far as valuable information which would help the visitors of travel sites in general.

I am contemplating on which strategy to use, to "get the word out there".

The best thing of course would be, to implement it in travel sites/blogs etc, therefor making some sort of deal with the owners, eventhough the value for their visitors will be there with no cost in the first place.

But hardly anyone will just go "oh great, my readers will digg this I ll plonk the link/image to my sidebar" etc. Everyone wants something in return these days. I have contemplated a compensation of some sort ..lets say "10 days of 250x250 advertising of your blog on the site" etc...

I dont want to take the PPC route, cause I believe the social/viral is the only way to go.

Any suggestions regarding this issue? If I havent been clear with anything let me know.

    Talk to retsek about press releases.

    As long as your site is good quality, I think it would help get you a quick boost in traffic from established sites.

    Create video around your niche and optimize it to rank. Create a twitter page and tweet the links to your followers. Its pretty easy finding 1000's of followers interested in your niche. Then take some incredibly cool images and add them to your Pinterest account. But above all, be yourself, make friends and the buzz will come.
