Hello All, I set up a new site over the weekend that was created around a single Keyword phrase, the site was indexed by goodle in about 12 hours, not sure if that is good, bad or normal. I was curious as to how long it typical takes for Google to rank the page, I am curious to know if my on-page SEO was any good. I am new to all of this and would like to know what kind of job I did.

  • Ranking depends primarily on two factors:

    Onsite SEO and Offsite SEO.

    You should look at your competition and focus on building quality back links when you are gunning for the top spot.

    Its a good thing that G00gle indexed your website within 12 hours. Keep adding fresh unique contents as often as you can so that G will keep digging your website.

    The rank of the page on your website will depends how popular it becomes. The more organic visitors land on your website the better ranking it will receive.

    As for onpage Optimization, for now just make sure that your website is user friendly with good navigation buttons. Read up some materials on page SEO to learn more about it. Then apply what you've read to your website and your website should do fine.
  • I have done all of that, just curious how long it takes to start seeing ranking, I ran my URL through one of those sites that tells you what your page rank is and it came back with a "not ranked yet" result.
  • Well, its a new site so you have to it some time establish itself. And since its indexed your website is definitely ranking somewhere.
  • I am new to all of this so I guess like many that are new to it I have bought into the hype that you can build a site and poof you will have page 1 ranking within a week, I am just excited and want to see results come quick. I think I am indexed when I type in (site:MyURL) and press enter my pages come up in the search results.

    • Believe me you're not the only one who bought into the hype of making easy money online. The truth is you can make money online but it does require a lot of your time, a lot of effort, and ingenuity.

      That is correct. You can type "site:http://www.yourwebsite.com" on G00gle or other major search engines to determine if any of your webpages are indexed. Then from here on out, its just a matter of how you will bring it to the first page.

      Is the domain new as well or just the website? Look into acquiring aged domains for your next websites because they do provide some ranking and traffic benefits. They are also much easier to rank since G00gle give them more trust and priorities over newer domains.
  • On page SEO is basically your title tags, meta keywords, meta description, alt tags, and your content of course. Do not overload keywords within your content. Try for 5% IMO.
