Google have caught up on spammy type links, therefore to get around the update you have to remove all the bad links pointing to your sites and also start adding new and unique content daily, to regain your serp places.

Google has made an update called Penguin update which will work against over optimization. Google Penguin update will not affect those blogs/websites which are using pure SEO as they heavily depends on their content. Now waiting to see the reaction of people regarding the update.

there may or may not have been a refresh or tweak over the past day, but many are stating that their sites have bounced back in the past day, myself included....
