Doesn't This Count as Penguin = Good?

I optimized my homepage for 3 main keywords.

Let's say my site was about bikes.
One of the keywords was "blue bikes".

I was ranking at the first page for "blue bikes"...before and after Penguin.

However, I also have another page separately for "blue bikes".
---www,mysite,com/blue-bikes
The homepage is like an introduction to the content with 3000 words.

After penguin, my homepage has disappeared from the first page when you search for "blue bikes".
Instead, my page ---www,mysite,com/blue-bikes has replaced it.

I think that's pretty cool that the new algorithm can do that. It's better result for search, I guess, since it's more targeted to the exact search.

If your homepage has an anchor text link 'blue bikes' to your blue bikes page (you probably have in your sidebar), google will assume that is the most important page on your site about blue bikes because the pages of your site all point to that one page.

Assuming your site is a blog, and you had recently posted your blue bikes post, it would appear on the front page and if it were a viral subject you might get a lot of links to your homepage with anchor 'blue bikes', in a few months when your page is no longer showing on the homepage that would be useless - google has found a way to make sure the correct page gets the recognition.
