There are various tools available on the internet providing traffic exchange services. That wont be relevant at all but atleast you will have visitors.

Well social media like Facebook and Twitter are wonderful to get traffic to your website. You can make fan page of your website and tweet your link on twitter to get traffic.

-define the keywords you want to rank for and start building backlinks through relevant blog comments, wikis, web 2.0 and social bookmars.

-backlink to your chosen pages and use several different anchor texts per keyword.

You can use about 50 to 100 different unique keywords for the first tier. Then, start backlinking with about 3-6 keywords per page. Make sure to include about 2-3 non money keywords.

-continue the process for all pages you want to rank.

Increasing traffic takes time and a lot of effort. You have to be very patience and hardworking. Though, posting quality back links and your own write-ups. There's also lots of videos on this topic, you can check them out. It's quite effective. I hope that helped you in a way or so.

Have you done proper keyword research? Are you targeting the low-mid competition yet sufficiently high-traffic ones? Are you diversifying your anchor texts enough? If not - you'd better start doing these asap.

One thing to keep in mind that after the latest Google penguin update you need to get the links from relevant sites and pages having low OBLs. Don't care about the nofollow nature but keep on spreading the links.

You can try out getting quality back links for your site and submit unique blogs and articles to article submission directories with high PR. This usually takes time, but this helps a lot.

There are a lot of ways to increase your traffic. To have more visitors, you can improve your search engine ranking by focusing your content on keywords that related to your topic. Create more content - this will help you rank for random long tail keywords related to your subject/niche/theme

I have the same problem with my website (on education topic)

Just to add - When setting up your site, it is important to add text links on the multiple pages. When using image maps, links for images, or drop down menus, it is important to add text links because the spiders need them to have something to follow. This is important when it comes to the way you rank on the search engine results page
