Web 2.0 strategy

I've been reading a lot about web 2.0 links lately. Is the strategy as simple as follows?

-Create an account on sites like tumblr and blogspot, amongst other, and then write good quality, original content articles and post them to your new blogs. Have a couple of links point to your main site (with very varied anchor text).

-Use social bookmarking and other methods and point them to your new web 2.0 sites to increase the linking power of the web 2.0 sites.

Is that pretty much the concept? How is creating your own blogs / other web 2.0 sites different from the blog network concept that google has recently punished? Will google value these web 2.0 links as long as the content on them is high quality and original?

  • I think there's nothing wrong with the method you just described. I'd even call it a completely whitehat method. All you're doing is writing articles (that are helpful to others), publishing them on as many web properties as you can, and including link to your own site for more information.

Also, you're getting the word out for your newly created properties by leveraging social media - nothing wrong with that, that's how it should be done in the first place.

Difference between this and private blog networks? Link buying.

    • Thats pretty much the way everyone does. But make sure you stick to original and good content while carrying this out. Would be better if you create a link wheel.
  • Here's how we do it in my company. Complete white hat.

Your Website link to Web 2-0

    1. Web 2-0 (having unique and quality articles for each properly) *10+ Properly if possible
    2. Social Bookmark - Bookmark each properly upto 25-50 social bookmarking sites.

    Hope it helps you.
  • Your on the right track. Carry on along this path and you should see results in no time
  • It's a great way to do link building, and as stated already, the difference between this and the blog networks is that the networks were paid links. Also many of them had posts that were unrelated to the links.

In order to join the mainstream, most organizations will need a great Web 2.0 strategy.
  • Ok great, it sounds like I will go with this strategy and make it part of my overall strategy. That definitely makes sense about the difference between this and the private blog networks. I just wanted to make sure before I really got started. Thanks a lot.

  • Hi there

You have a great strategy in place and you should start to get results soon

    Good Luck

  • That is the right idea. Remember to use quality content and vary your anchor text. This is one of the exact strategies we use when building links. With the right content and mixed in with other techniques, this continues to be overwhelmingly effective.
  • That's about what I'm doing now. But I typically will wait a few weeks (or a few months and add the link to my website at that time. Or, is it OK to add the backlink at the time you are writing the original articles on Tumbler etc...
  • Its ok to add them right away. There is no point in adding an extra step into your workflow. The benefits for waiting to add a link would be marginal at best. You can use that time to write more quality articles and build more quality links.

    • Right idea but to make more juice, we will target the bookmark by wikis and blog commenting but make sure that the bookmark has high PR.
  • There's nothing wrong with your strategy you can do web 2.0 and bookmarking as many as you can but do it manually so that you site will not be spam.

  • Don't forget social signals. Tweet, like, stumble, and +1 those links and content pieces then ask your friends, family, and readers to do the same in order to show natural social buzz growth.
  • Is it recommended to have Pligg sites 100-300 bookmarks with 10-20 days schedule as well in addition to those web 2.0 properties or only high pr bookmark sites's bookmark only recommended for web 2.0 properties?
  • Shall we submit 1 unique fresh written article per web 2.0 property or we can submit same copy of article to a few 4-5 good properties blogs ?

I heard in warrior forums that many usages same article on more than one property as well.

    What do you suggest?
  • Also complete your profiles with pictures and stuff. Use only unique articles.
  • Why not just forget about your 'main site' altogether and run ads on the Web 2.0s. That will save the visitor an extra hop.
  • Shall we submit 1 unique fresh written article per web 2.0 property or we can submit same copy of article to a few 4-5 good properties blogs ?

    Is this recommended or not?

    • I am also looking for an answer to this question.
    • Yep, it's what I use and still works flawless.

Plan 1 is better, you want to funnel a much linkjuice as you can to those tier 1 web 2.0 pages <- I use a similar plan

If possible, definitely use unique content on each tier 1 web 2.0 property... or a really well spun high quality article.

  • Yes, that's a great method to boost your rankings! Web 2.0's with original content work great for boosting your rankings. And they work even better if you build backlinks to them!
  • Don't forget Squidoo! Also, you can use a tool called Magic Submitter to help you. I'm not an affiliate, I just like the tool.

  • You're definitely on the right track, you can increase the link power of those web 2.0 pages even more by adding an extra tier. mass article submission with varied anchor text linking to the web 2.0 pages, and then social bookmark everything (including every article submission)...

    • Do you recommend Article Marketing Robot for mass article submission to web 2.0s?

  • If you have many web 2.0 sites, post unique content on each site and don't just spin one article.
  • Plan 1
    ------------
For Tier 1 - Fresh content and article on each web 2.0 property
however for Tier 2 - Manual spin with TBS shall be good idea since in this tier we need more web 2.0s
Tier3 - The same Tier 2 spun article to be mass article, wiki submission,
and then at end bookmark all tiers...

Do you think post penguin this method still work or is risky?

    Plan 2
    -----------
Tier 1 - Create unique and fresh content web 2.0 properties fresh article per web 2.0 blog
Tier 2 - Social bookmark, tweet, facebook like on those web 2.0 blogs

Which one idea you think is good and effective for SEO plan?
  • DeMango25,
Post penguin world dont you think Plan 1 can have some risk of utilization of automated tools for link building more aggressive pattern ?

I will wait for review of other forum members and yours on the same.

    • I've been doing it for all my sites and none of them were hit by the penguin update...
  • Your strategy needs a bit modification. Build a web 2.0 pyramid in Tumblr, blogspot, blog.com etc. Point ONLY ONE link to your own website, another to wikipaedia/yahoo/any other and third to next web 2.0. Couple of links to your own website will looks spammy. This works for me and I regularly use this technique. It doesn't looks spammy as well.
  • Just got to have great content that allows people to share it on the social media.

    • Hi Demango25,

Of late, I have been toying with the idea of buying either AMR or UAW.However, since penguin update, I have put my plans on the backburner and waiting for more inputs lest my money site gets hard hit. Now even if I go for AMR (one-time fee, but recurring decaptcher or deathbycaptcher expenditure), or UAW (recurring $67 expenditure which is huge), which one do you suggest should I go for in terms of safety and effectiveness? I have another question: can I use AMR without any code breaker? Will it work or will it create only spammy links which is not good in the recent scenerio?

  • Here is what I have done so far. For the main site, I've created over 30 completely unique, high-quality articles (wasn't easy but is in a niche I personally know very well). I plan on getting over 100 articles written when all is said and done.

-Created a Squidoo page with one link to the main site and one link to my blogspot blog. Also, one link to an authority site.

-Created a blogspot blog, wrote 5 unique articles. On one article, pointed link to my main site, one link to authority site, and one to my weebly site.

-Created a weebly site, wrote 4 unique content articles. Same linking scheme (1 total link to site, 1 to yahoo/wikipedia/other, 1 to tumblr blog, other articles don't have any links)

-Created a tumblr site, wrote 5 unique articles. Same linking scheme (1 total to site, 1 to yahoo/wikipedia/other, 1 to hubpages site)

-Created a hubpages site- still working on it.

I plan on making a posterous site, a wordpress, so on and so forth.

I've done manual social bookmarking of all these new blog sites (15-20 links or so to each). All the linking has very varied anchor text and half the time is just the url.

I assume this is the right idea? I've read about using different IP addresses when posting to the web 2.0 properties. Does this even apply here when I'm not ever creating multiple blogs on the same site (only one blogspot, one tumblr, one squidoo, etc.)? Is there something I'm missing with that? I'm usually in up to 5 different locations when actually posting an article to these sites. Let me know and thanks again for your help.

    • How long does all this take? I would imagine, it is going to cost a bit to pay someone or for you to do it, it will take a lot of time. Is the time / money spent well worth it?
